Solved V 6.7 | Status Info Overlay shows while Status Bar set to Hide

@asgeirtj said in V 6.7 | Status Info Overlay shows while Status Bar set to Hide:
Is it possible to have both status bar and info overlay at the same time with some css? (the setting is makes no sense why can't I have both, if it can be achieved through this bug then give me the bug please :D) oh the irony...
Heathen!
(Still looking for the place to put that CSS stuff for a portable version of Vivaldi, anyone?)

@asgeirtj If you don’t display the status info in the status bar, you get the overlay currently. Displaying both status info overlay and status info element is not possible. Please don’t add to the confusion by writing status bar when you really mean status info element. The status bar doesn’t have to include the status info, you can remove it.

@asgeirtj You don’t understand the concept. I don’t blame you though. Yes, it is currently absolutely possible without any kind of custom mod to display the status bar and the status info overlay at the same time. For this to work have the status bar visible, but have no status info element present in any toolbar, then the status info overlay will pop up when hovering a link. You have to discern between
status bar
,status info element
, andstatus info overlay
. These are three distinct elements which decide how your setup will relate to the present UI. -
A new version was just released but the bug wasn't fixed. Disappointing. It's getting really annoying.
-
We have already bug reports in bugtracker about overlay shows up when it was set to hidden.
-
@Onweerwolf Same here. Updated this morning, no change at all, and having the address pop up when I move the cursor over anything is annoying.

I just downgraded to 6.6.3271.57 and turned off automatic updates and the stupid url tooltips are gone.

@Onweerwolf
There have been several updates in the meantime and nothing has changed.https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/752585
Yes, - it's not only disappointing but even highly annoying that this annoying “status info overlay” can no longer be switched off.
This bug has been around since update 6.7.3319.12.
When will they finally react?
Greetings | Ricarda

@Ricarda
Hi, these updates was mostly security updates and important bug fixes. Important in this case meant Vivaldi crash or a main functionality is broken.
I fear such graphical glitches have not high priority. -
Will this ever be fixed?
-
@Onweerwolf Sure. When a developer has time to do it, but as @mib2berlin said, such minor bugs do not have a high priority. Just show the Status Bar and add some useful buttons to it.

> I fear such graphical glitches have not high priority. The way in which the technical administration of VIVALDI is dealing with the wishes and anger of the loyal VIVALDI fans in this matter is a cheek and an insult.
It probably only took them a few seconds to distribute this bug in version update 6.7.3319.12.
And now they are supposedly unable to fix this absolutely annoying bug after many, many weeks? This is absolutely shabby and primitive ...
Dear people, - this is absolutely annoying and years of joy over a really great browser are now turning into hate and anger.
I now recommend my friends and acquaintances to look for another browser that takes its customers seriously.

I wholeheartedly I agree. Vivaldi is the top browser for customization, getting to set single key hotkeys is a unique feature... But the basic ridiculous problems it has became too much for me to keep on using it now recently. I'm using macOS and there is a bug where the app always opens in a tiny window and there is no fix and no fix in sight it seems. The performance problems are abysmal, I think I've probably wasted a few whole workdays trying to optimize it so it would run at a level where the performance would be acceptable, but for almost no gain. "You have to start with a clean profile" they said, sure OK I'll just set up everything from scratch with my million customizations. Did not fix the underlying problem of Vivaldi being unoptimized from the ground up (and the single key shorcut feature is probably part of that problem sadly, but they're too deep it in it to change it and it will probably always be like this, and Vivaldi will fade away through the years). If that wasnt enough I got the Vivaldi BSOD two times where the browser is not launchable unless you delete your config. First time I've ever had to setup an automatic backup for a browser profile to protect myself from these kinds of disasters.
And yeah then there is this, I have a big problem with the fact that you can't have a toolbar at the bottom AND get to see the url hover overlay? You have to decide one or the other? wtf is this? But it's achievable with a simple CSS mod? This is stupid to say the least. Meanwhile while people complain about these BASIC problems Vivaldi is prioritizing developing Vivaldi for some rare sportscars integrations? (wtf?) This browser makes no sense. Ultimately the direction of the company is dictated by some weird interests and It's time to say goodbye. A few months off Vivaldi and loving that I can browse the web without everything coming to a screeching halt after you make the mistake of having like 10 tabs or 2 browser windows, on a Macbook M1. /rant

Absolutely agree.
Vivaldi was great but it's turning to shit fast. Someone in another thread mentioned that the developers do not care about this forum anymore and have outsourced everything concerning bugs and issues to unpaid helpers which is why we've been getting the same dumb replies to every topic lately. The perfect way to get rid of your loyal users is to stop listening to their input.
It's absolutely insane that this obnoxious bug has not yet been fixed. I've had to downgrade to a version of months ago and turn off auto updates to circumvent this crap.

The loyal users don’t whine constantly about bugs not being fixed at once. They understand that trivial, cosmetic issues get less attention than security fixes, which you are missing if you revert to an older version.
This forum has always been a place for users to help each other. There is nothing to be gained by biting the hand that feeds. The developers spend most of their time fixing important bugs, and rarely respond here.
This particular bug is in the bug-tracker, and no doubt will get fixed in due course. You can ask in the Bug Status thread if there has been any progress since April 24th when someone last asked.
@edwardp said in What is the status of VB (=already reported bug/issue)?:
VB-105892 is a duplicate of VB-105520 which is confirmed. Not assigned to a developer.

See? Constantly the same replies by the same people.
