I wonder if anybody uses mail filtering & tagging. I still cannot get some mails to obey my rules no matter how hard I'm trying (filter renaming, new filter adding, rerun filters etc.). And the strange thing is that I get different results in two different Vivaldi installations: one on my desktop PC and the other on my laptop.

@nutcracker I use a lot of email filters but not w tagging. I cannot explain your situation. However I can say that I've been quite successful in my usage of mail filters. Here's what I've done -- more or less.

First I check to see if there's an unsubscribe option in the mail. I get rid of a lot of junk that way. Then I start with filters. I've had very good results using "From" and the last words in the address. Example: [email protected] I filter for "gmail.com" w/o "". Of course if you get a lot of mail from different people using gmail and you don't want to get rid of all of them, then switch to <from begins with> "xyz" without "". And there are variations to this idea. Also I never use compounded filters, example <from: "xyz" or "zyx" in a single filter, etc. And, if I find I get a lot of mail from gmail, I try to filter on the Gmail server. Between filters it's always "or" not "and". I also break up my filters by some criteria so I don't end up with a very, very long filter. In principal long ones should work but I find that is not rock solid. I have never filtered on tags. I'm sure you know some (or all) of the above but w/o an example or two, it's hard to diagnose. I would say I capture 95-98% of my filtered emails. HTH

@nutcracker are the filters applied only to incoming messages or do they also apply to outgoing messages? I have several messages send by vivaldi that aren't searchable/findable from the vivaldi instance that sent them. From another instance that fetched that same messages through imap I can search and find them. It could explain some different results between vivaldi installations.

In my case I do have a filter that apply labels but only to incoming emails and it seems to be working fine.

Ever since upgrading to this build on my Mac, the menu bar completely disappears whenever using Vivaldi. I cannot access anything in the menu at all.

@oscillik Please report issue to Vivaldi bug tracker. Once that is done, share the bug number (beginning with VB-) you got by bug report mail. Thanks for helping us making Vivaldi better.

Vivaldi snapshots are the biggest thing - BUT: For me, only version 6.1.3009.3 works reliably, all other snapshots lead to crashes without comment, and no solution can be found. I will still try this snapshot, but since the eternal back and forth, 1 step forward - two steps back, is time-consuming and annoying, I will have to part with Vivaldi.

No crash for me since months on Windows 11 and Linux on different hardware.

                          Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Thank You so much - but explicitly I only have problems with versions that were released after 6.1.3009.3. I have taken into account the problem with profiles, extensions, etc., I am currently not using Winddoof11 or Linux. I only spoke up because it was said several times that this problem of silent crashes was solved - which is not the case for me. A last word: version 6.2.3077.3 hasn't crashed yet, but hangs up to 5 minutes on startup. byebye

Hi, check the Windows ask manger if a security software is running at Vivaldi start.
It is well known that third party security software can slowdown , block or even crash VIvaldi
