Uber Doesn't Use Password
-
Uber doesn't use passwords instead it uses a code system 1 sent to email and1 to text.
Because there's no password there's no save process started by Vivaldi to save the user or email to access the site.
-
@CityguyUSA Yes, some sites do this now.
-
I have also to do at work with a couple of sites of known automotive brands which don't want you to store your login user/pasword in the browser. I have to use notes and copy paste them.
-
IMHO those need to saved by the browser as well. Keeping them in some file or on a piece of paper is the worst. Invariably, you're somewhere else and you don't have access to your paper then what?
You either keep it in some file and have a script copy it everytime you shut down to other devices or you have to carry the piece of paper. But I can tell you your memory doesn't get better with age and even using a script you need to handle a failed copy if a device is offline or just won't connect or a security problem after an update, etc there is a lot of things that happen to fail the script. The best place to put it would be in a cloud if you have to manage it but we need VIVALDI to step it up.
-
@CityguyUSA If you have autofill enabled (which it is by default), it will save the email.
All browsers do this by the way.
we need VIVALDI to step it up.
There's nothing to step up to because there's nothing being done wrong.

Those are default emails put into forms when you get something delivered or when your filling out a form asking for an email but it doesn't save the email you ultimately fill in that field,

It's those sites (at least in my case) that don't want you to store the credentials in the browsers, with the excuses of "security reasons". They actively use some scripts to trick the browsers into thinking they don't have to memorize the credentials for you.
Keeping them in some file or on a piece of paper is the worst. Invariably, you're somewhere else and you don't have access to your paper then what?
As I said, I use the Vivaldi notes. No piece of paper involved, it's just somewhere else inside the browser data, not in the saved passwords but in the notes. that's all.
Then if you have a problem of your PC being accessed by other people and you fear they will be snooping into the notes, there's nothing else than a 3rd party password manager.

PK I get it but I don't want others to follow suite. If we don't add it to the list of passwords then every site will follow suit thinking it's better like 2 factor. Just my concern.
-
@CityguyUSA Autofill should save the email you fill there, like in my image. If it doesn't, that's what you'll need to troubleshoot - like, have you enabled autofill?
As already said, there is no list of passwords to add to because there's no passwords to save.
-
I don't want it in autofill. I use a service that gives me a unique address for every site I use.
