Solved Address bar not taking up full available width - how to fix?
-
Hi all, I just installed Vivaldi on my new computer (Windows 10), and have an issue with the address bar - it isn't taking up the full available space. It looks like this:
There's all that unused space to the left and right of it, it's like it's trying to limit itself and the back/forward/reload/search bar areas to about 700 pixels. I've tried different themes, various settings, but can't figure out how to get it to use the full available width.
By comparison, on my old desktop (with Vivaldi 5.6), it looks like this:
Is this a bug, or a new default in Vivaldi 6.1? How can I change it back to using the full width? As a web developer, it's really helpful to see the full address at times, and this new behavior often prevents that.

Hi, this is the new default if a user never change the address bar or on a clean install.
Check https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/appearance-customization/edit-toolbars/
for customizing Vivaldi. The user Nomadic create this small Gif:Cheers, mib

Use this code to see the really full address when active:
.UrlBar-AddressField:active, .UrlBar-AddressField:focus-within {flex-basis: 850px !important; transition: all 0.5s !important;}

Thanks to both of you! I've marked mib2berlin's answer as the right one as I prefer the whole address be visible all the time (not just when the address bar is focused), but they're both useful depending on the workflow someone is looking for.
(Also props for giving credit to the original creator of that very helpful GIF)
