Vivaldi Interface rendered pixelated

All of a sudden, I can't get Vivaldi running. I have recently upgraded the snapshot version and am on Kubutu 22.04. Vivaldi starts up but the screen has a bunch of small icons on top and at the bottom but there are no menus or anything recognizable. After a while the icons on the top disappeared. I took a screen shot
I have the latest stable version running on another Kubuntu 22.04 machine and it is fine. This computer was running the snapshots fine until today. I am using Chrome Version 113.0.5672.126 (Official Build) snap (64-bit) to write this.(mod edit: title)

I had this issue a couple of versions ago.
I believe it was a Chromium/Chrome video issue or CSS error carried over in Vivaldi.
It was 'fixed' in Chrome first, then next Vivaldi update.
Have you installed CSS manipulation 'add-on' / extension like DarkReader or Stylish.
Stylish has gone to h*ll.
I've switched to Real OpenSource Stylus (instead of stylish).
Do you have Chromium or Chrome installed?
check site in one of them. -

Hi, you can start Vivaldi in a terminal with:
vivaldi-snapshot --disable-extensions
If this work you can remove the extensions in your profile but this is all or nothing.
I guess the better way is to start from scratch and move/remove you profile or the complete user data in .config.https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/87288/manually-delete-extensions-because-vivaldi-crashes-on-launch?_=1684991006601

Starting Vivaldi in the terminal "vivaldi-snapshot --disable-extensions" didn't work.
The manual backup/restore link doesn't say anything about mail. I don't want to lose all my emails in the process. How can I save my emails if I try to re-install Vivaldi?
How can I find the path to my default folder when I can't access the vivaldi://about page?
Maybe I should install the stable version and rely on sync to get back all my settings. I don't know if that would restore my emails. -
@Sataylor56
Hi, reinstall does nothing, it don´t touch your user settings and data.
The profile folder "Default" in in .config/vivaldi-snapshot.
Mail accounts and mails are not synced and I don´t know which folders you have to copy except .config/vivaldi-snapshot/Mail.
In this folder the mails are stored.
If you use IMAP for your mails nothing is lost, you have to fetch the mails again from the mail server.Cheers, mib

My email account is through Yahoo and is POP3 so my emails are not on the server.
I have installed the Vivaldi stable and it is working fine. I used sync to get all my settings. Set up my email accounts and that is working but, of course, I don't see my old emails. Can I copy the mail folder over from my snapshot installation? -
@Sataylor56
Hm, no idea.
I would move the profile folder of you snapshot to a save place.
If you then start the snapshot Vivaldi create a new clean profile, create your mail account and copy your mail folder to your new snapshot profile.
If this work you can decide if you do the same for the stable install or work further in the snapshot.
I would disable sync in the stable before start it in the snapshot, it is not good to sync two different version of Vivaldi.Cheers, mib

I moved the default folder and restarted Vivaldi snapshot and it was working fine. I recreated my email accounts and copied the email folder back but the emails are not showing up. There is probably an email index file that needs to be recreated/updated or something like that. I don't see any way of importing emails from another vivaldi installation like there is to import from Opera. Maybe I'm missing something. Anyway, my Vivaldi snapshot is back and working now.

How can I get my previous mail filters from the old installation into my new installation? I don't see where they were stored.

@Sataylor56
Hi, maby you can ask in the mail/calendar section, the mail developer read this section but not the standard sections.
The mail database is located in:
Default\Storage\ext\mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli
You can try to remove the folder in your new install, Vivaldi rebuild the database at next start, or copy it over from your old saved profile.
If it rebuild the database I hope it read the mails in/Mail.Cheers, mib
