macOS history swiping fix – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2979.2
-
@TbGbe - just saying, is all. I did uninstall Vivaldi completely and reinstalled it. Same result. That's why no need for a guest profile.
-
@DoctorG - I'll be damned. I just tried disabling GPU acceleration inside Vivaldi's settings. The settings window showed up normally.
No black screen came up. But when I re-enabled GPU acceleration, the problem came back. Well! What now? I'm open to suggestions.

@Omnimaxus That is something for me as a "support" to investigate in a own thread. Please create new thread at https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/32/vivaldi-for-windows and add to start of title "Snapshot 6.0.2979.2 - ".

@Omnimaxus
Hi, can you open a new thread to sort out this issue. please?
This thread will be closed in a few days anyway and it will be easier for other users to follow the thread.Cheers, mib

@Omnimaxus Reinstall Vivaldi.
-
@Omnimaxus Tried with open settings in tab?
Wonder if it helps with the bug.
-
@Hadden89 - thanks. When I enable that particular setting, the settings do show up normally in a tab. No problems (i.e., no visual defects).
-
Thank you for the new build, unfortunately Private mode still results in a browser crash and cannot be used for 4-5 snapshoots now.
I hope those generated dmp files are uploaded to Vivaldi's servers. -
I've noticed a bug (at least seems to be) with workspaces.
I have window A with workspace WA, and window B with workspace WB, if I'm on window A and right click on a link and choose "open in another workspace" and pick workspace WB, the link is opened instead on workspace WA (the one Im at).
Has anyone seen/reported this? -

No if you don't actually send them as attachment to a bug report. Self uploading dumps would be a privacy breach.
-
@MasterLeo29 I don't think I've seen this be discussed before. I can definitely reproduce this though.
You should file a new report.
-
@AltCode Just did. thanks for confirming Im not seeing things

When I installed the last snapshot my Workspaces lost all their contents. I rebuilt them and I've since added more Workspaces and don't want to blow them up.
When I installed 5.8.2978.34 (Official Build) (64-bit) on my test machine the tabs from my 3D Printing Workspace went to a default window and the 3D Printing Workspace contained only one tab (Start Page). The other Workspaces contained the tabs they had prior to the upgrade.
Before doing the newest upgrade on this machine will I protect myself by backing up the Vivaldi Profile folder? If the Workspaces get messed up will restoring all the files from the Profile backup be sufficient to restore the Workspaces?
Thank you
-
@g_bartsch If you don't have "Startup with Last Session", you should enable it.
Currently, workspaces will only be saved after a restart with that setting enabled.
-
What about two-finger swipe for history on windows? Why is it not an option on my windows laptop with a big trackpad? Like any other browser..
-
Is it just me, or is theverge.com completely broken? Here's the same article in both Vivaldi and Chrome.
-
@Daring I had that problem a few minutes ago, but that was in Safari - this leads me to believe it was a problem on The Verge's side, not Vivaldi.
Give it some time, but if it persists, try force reloading: open quick commands and search "force page reload".
-
@g_bartsch I almost forgot, if you're still worried about losing your workspaces after a restart, then you should begin using sessions more often.
I can't remember if it was mentioned in any of the changelogs, but you can now choose to save one that includes all open workspaces.

Thank you. I've had that enabled for a very long time but it didn't prevent the issue last upgrade nor this upgrade on my test machine. Since there was a problem on my test machine this with this most recent upgrade/install I want to be able to recover from any potential problem on this machine.

@Daring Working for me.
