You can also use gifs as custom buttons

@stardepp Nice you tested for us.
And what's about Animated PNG (file should be ending .png on Windows)?
-
@DoctorG No ends as .gif
-
@DoctorG Yes, animated PNGs work.
Used one of the only animated PNGs I have saved on my computer, so it doesn't look great, but it does work.

Very nice gif. One question:
How do you do it with the mouse to press the button if it is jumping back and forth?

This button can be clicked in the normal way.
-
@barbudo2005 The button isn’t jumping, it keeps position, only the area within the button is animated. Having said that, animated buttons are an acquired taste. Personally I can’t stand constant movement in my UI.

@barbudo2005 Yes, it could use some moisture 🧴

How are you guys inserting these custom buttons? This is cool. But I don't see any code in this thread.
-
@g_bartsch If it's custom buttons, it's not code. It's drag and drop into the provided place in Settings/Themes, and then apply them to the relevant bars using the toolbar customization dialog. One is advised to make the images 28X28.
-
@g_bartsch And if you are on the stable version, you need to go to
vivaldi://experiments/
and enable custom buttons to see theIcons
section in the theme settings. -
Animated PNG images are not too bad if you set a slow frame rate. Five seconds per frame works for me. It avoids the distraction of flashing images. I use APNG Assembler from SourceForge.

@Ayespy Thanks! For a while I wasn't keeping up with all the new features and missed this one (and probably more). The developers are doing such amazing things.
-
@nomadic Thanks I'm on the snapshot stream so the option is there.
