Stabilizing as we get close to 5.7 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2921.29

Again a very nice photo in the blog post.
-
So is it good to go or shall i wait for final?
Your smooth scrolling needs revision, i hadn't had a freeze after disabling it, so that must be it for VB-91427.
-
Install the Snapshot as a Standalone Version so that it does not interfere with your settings for the Stable release.
-
@pesala: Too late, i have already done an upgrade, yes i know but it should work, i have minimalist config. It's RC alpha then...
-
@iPristy It is not a release candidate yet, but getting close now.

When Vivaldi starts it always creates a shortcut in the start menu/all programs. Delete it, restart Vivaldi, creates it again.
-
@derDay thanks. I was able to reproduce this.
-
@pathduck: I clearly watch too many YT videos where cards like mine are treated like an IBM punch card machine
Anyhoo, I see the effect on all the videos in your link also.
-
@pathduck: 360p seems fine btw, at least on YouTube
-
@Ruarí Are there perhaps issues with bundle.js in the Linux versions?
I posted this a week ago. https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/83406/cannot-read-properties-of-null-notification-upon-start
Was seeing errors with both the latest Stable and now Snapshot. Reinstalling the packages did not clear the error.
Thanks in advance.

Getting a weird graphical glitch. If I'm watching Youtube and mouse over the video (after awhile) the speed dial image shows and then it's back to the video. Passing over the video again won't have the glitch, it's just the first time
Another time, with the video playing on a background tab I closed the tab I was viewing and the video showed on the speed dial background with just the video, no player, no web page and no UI. After a second everything appeared.

I think you should stop watching those videos
Seriously, cards of that generation are still perfectly good GPUs, and able to run most games at decent quality. The last AAA game I played on the 970 was AC Valhalla, I had to tune some settings down but otherwise it was more than good enough for 1080p at 40-60fps which is fine.
And there's literally thousands of great new games out there that can be played just fine with these cards.
The whole top-line GPU market is mostly just BS anyway - the performance gain is not that great compared to the insane prices asked. I guess the whole market relies on "leet gamer" "whales" with way too much disposable income, who are willing to pay whatever the vendors ask to brag about their card, and the insane CS fps junkies who think that their eyes are even able to detect the difference between 120 and 240hz...
Back in 2015 when I got the 970 I did play games where GPU performance was important. These days I mostly play turn-based hex war games - that could run fine on a Pentium probably
-
@pathduck: The prices are insane and I agree with your analysis. OTOH I'd like something faster for dabbling with Blender... one day... if I were a rich man... Ya ba dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dum

@endorphin75: I had a ZX81, then a Spectrum +2, so anything above 2fps feels like a win to me

I remember having a blast on my C64 playing Driller, 1 frame per second 3D shooter

Still hoping for a Friday Snapshot, but I suspect the video issues might be tricky to fix...
I installed Chrome
110.0.5481.78
and the same there. Same in Edge110.0.1587.41
and Chromium110.0.5481.78

@vulture true. That was a bug and has now been fixed.
