Vivialdi browser login is just straight broken
-
I recently reset my browser sync info, because I forgot my sync decryption password. I reset my account password, and my sync password, and now everything is screwed up.
Vivaldi is constantly logging me out of different installations at random times, and asking for my password. I type it in, and it tells me it is incorrect. It is correct. It has now locked my account, and is forcing me to reset my password.
Can I just say that I think it's pretty inane that I have to have two separate passwords to cover essentially one function? Vivaldi is willing to believe that I am me for the purposes of my account, but not also my sync data?
Figger it out.

I believe you should figger yourself out first. How can you lose track of both your account password and your encryption key? And apparently you forgot your account password for a second time. This is highly unusual. I recommend to incorporate the usage of a proper password manager into your workflow, then this won’t happen again.

Hi @hteasley, I'm sorry for the trouble you had with Sync.
When you change your password(s), the ongoing sessions will be terminated and you'll have to log in again. So, if you use Sync on, let's say, three different devices, you'll have to log in to all three again after changing the login password.
Being told that the password is incorrect means that perhaps you made a typo while updating the password or when trying to log in. Using a trusted password manager, as @luetage suggested, can help.
I also recommend downloading a backup encryption key and storing the file in a safe location, so you could recover access to your Sync data, should you have trouble with the encryption password in the future.

Absolutely not the case. I forgot my decryption password only, but after I reset that sync data, Vivaldi started simply not letting me log in. On devices I was already logged into, I remained logged in, but on devices I was not logged into, Vivaldi would claim my password was incorrect. I know those passwords well and was not mistyping them, thank you: I use NordPass to store passwords, and was copying and pasting from there, as well as entering them by hand, and Vivaldi was not accepting them. I was then forced to change my account password, and on other devices, that became logged out, they then refused to accept the new password. On a few occasions, sync has just stopped working on a device, and forced me to log in again, and the account password, which had not changed, was not accepted. The login window allows you to reveal the password you have typed, and I have done this, to ensure I typed the password correctly. This is not user error.
There appears to be an issue with VIvaldi not properly updating account info in a timely manner, such that I can change login info on one device, and be able to use that new info on another device quickly. I don't know if this stuff is cached, or what, but the fact is I have had Vivaldi continually tell me my password is bad when it very much is the password I set.
