Window is missing the border and drop shadow
-
@Triangulix That is a issue only on Windows 10 as i know.
-
@DoctorG That's possible but it for sure is not a Windows issue. All other programs have normal frames. Only the Vivaldi developers decided to suppress them.

Do you have concrete evidence to support that?
Would you be willing to go to trial for that?
Be more careful with your assertions.

@Triangulix
Hi, it is a regression and there is a bug report about: VB-90397.I cant test it because on Windows 11 all windows are frameless.
Cheers, mib

@barbudo2005 Evidence that the Vivaldi developers are the developers of Vivaldi? I'm pretty sure I could prove that in court.

@mib2berlin I have searched for screenshots of Windows 11 and found this one:
I see frames. -
@DoctorG said in Window frame:

Using W11 here and Vivaldi doesn't have any border that i can see. At least not the same as other windows where it's the same as the accent colour chosen.
Note that in the images whether vivaldi is in the background or foreground it doesn't show the blue border like Explorer.![viv fore.png]

@Triangulix
Ah, I see them now, never noticed it.Cheers, mib
-
@DoctorG Curious is on 10 but not on 7. Sadly, I'm on win11 where everything is frameless
I presume @Triangulix already tested the native window settings and failed
Non native may be workaround-able via mods. Althought is not a solution.
-
@Triangulix "...decided to suppress them..." Actually, no. Vivaldi developers are actively trying to figure out why their UI is being treated differently from that of other programs. They have done literally nothing to try to remove borders or drop shadows.
-
@Ayespy Well, they decided to configure the window in a way that it has no frame. With a tool like WinSpy some window properties can be changed at runtime.
Now there is a border. Unfortunately not permanent and in the wrong color.
I see that you allow other users to harrass me but delete my reaction...

@Triangulix I delete intemperate language. Cursing and insulting people are not permitted.
-
@Ayespy Are you willing to defend your actions in court?
-
@Triangulix No need.
-
While this is frustrating, it's good to know that the developers are working on it. (Let's refrain from tapping on the glass. The moderators are just trying to help.) As a temporary workaround in the meantime, I have enabled the status bar along the bottom, and moved the Panel to the left side (scroll bar usually marks the right side), to create some makeshift borders. Hopefully there will be a fix out soon.
-
Downloaded the latest update, was hoping this issue would be fixed by now. If we cannot fix it, is it at least possible as a work around, to add the option to turn on a black border on Vivaldi windows for now?
-
It's been two months... The edges still haven't appeared...

The solid border css is just a messy fix, it looks not really nice.
Vivaldi really should stop glorifying themselfs over inflationary new features and fix the little nagging annoying bugs that are all over the place. -
Could someone explain to me why some people use non-maximized windows?
