Solved Drag and Drop in Download Panel
-
They have lost more time trying show workarounds and to excuse the no implementation of this feature than it would have taken to go ahead and code it.
The reason to code it is simple. The other browsers have it, and we need it badly enough to write here.
When I discovered Vivaldi, I was happy since I though this would be the browser to replace them all. Because of this feature I still have to keep using firefox.
I am getting tired of working with two browsers. Having two browsers opened is inefficient, it is a real pain in the neck, and causes me to make mistakes. I use the abovementioned feature so many times in a day than I find myself using firefox way more than I would like.
When I get finally get fed up with all the window switching I cannot guarantee you that Vivaldi will be the chosen browser.
Just for this one unimportant feature according to you.
Last time I abandoned firefox it took me more than 10 years to even bother installing it again.
It has todo with usability and efficiency. Without it, Vivaldy is much less usable and efficient than the alternatives for the people who like myself do use dragging from the download panel

The developers have not wasted much time on it at all. Only other users and volunteers like myself have spent some of our free time trying to help users come to terms with the way things are.
Although this is an old request, with lots of votes, it is not yet tagged as In Progress, Pipeline, or even as Nice to Have.
I have no idea how much time it would take to code, and to keep up to date with each change to the underlying Chromium code, but I do know that it is very easy to work around it.

Have pinged the devs again though.
Maybe it is time to ping them again, but please don't hold your breath waiting for this feature. Try the workaround offered.

On looking through the most upvoted feature requests, I see that this is currently twelfth on the list, but is not even tagged as Pipeline yet. Is it a bug or a missing feature?

I first time try Vivaldi some days ago. Overall - very good browser, BUT... There is no drag'n'drop from downloads? Are you kidding me? That's.. basic, as said before other users. BASIC!
Option to use webpanel with internal browser address is piece of...
I hope this (I say it again) basis feature will be added asap! -
This feature is much needed.
The panel is neat but half its potential is gone when you can't do something as basic as drag the files in it. -
I need this also for productivity. Pretty important feature actually. Please consider prioritizing.

This feature not being included is pretty much the ONLY flaw I can personally think of when I switched to this almost flawless browser. Need fr

The wasted time adds up. -
Please, add drag and drop of downloads! It's really hassle to work without it, I'm forced to use a different browser just because of it
-
Personally as a work around I found that you can just drag the image to tab A to tab B if it is a site that lets you upload images this is also just better and glad I found this out even in browsers that support this
This personally is enough for me but I would like to see this added regardless

Click the magnifying glass icon in the Downloads Panel
@Pesala Where do you see magnifying glass in downloads panel?

This is one of the top-voted feature requests, and has been requested for over FOUR years with no implementation or updates in sight? What's the point of having feature requests and user voting if the development team just ignores what users want for years on end?
-
That's quite sad that Vivaldi developers ignores feature requests. This and the two heavy problems (ctrl+shift+c not working, no drag'n'drop) forces me to search for alternative browser.
-
@TuTAH It is sad that we see so many posts like yours from new users who assume that their pet issue is the most important thing demanding the developers' attention.
With 5,351 feature requests, and a small team, those needed by few users or difficult to implement may have to wait for a long time. Wherever you see that a feature is tagged as In Progress, it may get done this year rather than next.
- This old request with 163 upvotes is not tagged, but it is not hard to work around.
- Copying text to a note in the Developers Tools is apparently already possible.

Its so frustrating this doesnt work as expected - its a flow killer.

Please prioritize bringing this functionality to an upcoming snapshot. It's something super simple but very useful that any other browser has.
I work with photoshop and other adobes programs, so I constantly need to download images and bring them to photoshop, it ends up being a tedious job having to open the file explorer just to get that.
It's a little frustrating to see that since 2018 they've been asking for this and so far nothing.

@caioy If you associate the files with Adobe Photoshop, you do not need to open the download folder in explorer. Just double-click the file in the download panel to open it in PhotoShop.
For example, I associate *.7z archives with the 7-Zip file manager. If I double-click the *.7z archive in the download popup or the download panel, it opens in the 7-Zip file manager. Downloaded RAW files open in IrfanView, etc.

took me a while to notice it wasn't just my computer -
Note how it is implemented in Yandex Browser. There you immediately move the downloaded file to the desired open folder from the downloads list or drop it into the drag and drop page for uploading to the site.

@Pesala There are files that do not need to be opened only by Photoshop, for such .jpg .png .the gif for them is xnview. But in the work of photo editors, these files are not bypassed. And drag and drop will make it easier to work with them
