Paste without formatting not working in Google Docs
-
@felipe12345 Yes, copying formatted text from external app like LibreOffice Calc or MS Excel and paste into browser as raw text fails.
But this happens on Chromium, too. Not a Vivaldi issue, i think. I have not tested with Edge or Firefox or Chrome. Please tell me: copy from Excel to Google Sheets cell running browser works with which browser?

@doctorg It works fine in Chrome

@nomadic You're the best! I thought Vivaldi was just buggy because I found if I navigated back to the page I was on and then tried "Ctrl+Shift+V" the shortcut would work as expected. Why the heck would Vivaldi hijack such a common shortcut for some random functionality that's no more convenient than clicking on the search bar and pasting?

Ctrl + Shift + V still not working in Google Spreadsheets and Vivaldi. Will it ever be repaired?
-
I updated bug tracker VB-64825 "Cannot Ctrl+Shift+V to Paste as Plain Text in Google Sheets" for current 5.0 and 5.1 versions.
-
Ctrl + Shift + V is still fully functional in Google Docs. Thank you!

Ctrl+Shift+V is 'paste unformatted' in Google Docs (which I use all the time), doesnt work with the Vivaldi default keys as it conflicts with 'paste and go'. Yes I can change it in the settings, but you know how software goes, one day an update will reset it back again... also it doesnt sync between machines and its a pain to keep setting it up ... recommend Vivaldi change the default shortcut for this to something else.

@oo1 That is a known regression, no progress yet.

I use Google Sheets daily for work and am constantly using the Ctrl+Shift+V to paste in my spreadsheets. I just switched from Opera over to Vivaldi and love it, but am really getting fed up with the fact that Google Sheets shortcuts are not working. So far, I've tried:
-
Going to Vivaldi's Setting > Keyboard > Paste and Go and deleting the Ctrl+Shift+V there to see if that fixes it -- It doesn't
-
Tried going into Google Sheets > Help > Keyboard Shortcuts > Turned on 'Enable Compatible Spreadsheet Shortcuts' -- That didn't work to fix the issue either
-
Tried Going to Vivaldi's Setting > Keyboard and unchecked the 'Enable Keyboard Shortcuts' box to see if that would turn off Vivaldi's keyboard shortcuts and allow Google Sheets' keyboard shortcuts to work -- It didn't work either
I'm at a loss here. These keyboard shortcuts and users needing to have access to them in Google Sheets and Google Docs seems like a pretty big deal and Vivaldi should have addressed this as a major issue. I don't see why there isn't an easy fix for this. I've never had this type of problem in Google Sheets using any other web browser and I'd prefer to use Vivaldi for all my work and home-related web-based searches.
Please help me out.

@dejaboom That is a known unfixed issue.
Was already reported to bug tracker.VB-64825 "Cannot Ctrl+Shift+V to Paste as Plain Text in Google Sheets" – Confirmed.
/edit: Updated tracker for 5.3.2679.38 & 5.4.2693.8 / Win 11.

I found a solution and this does not appear to be a bug.
Solution: Install the Google Docs Offline extension. Now I can paste without formatting.
I believe this is installed by default with Chrome. If I disabled this extension in Chrome, I have the same problem of not being able to paste without formatting.

Hello all. Vivaldi has its own 'Paste as Plain Text' shortcut which I believe overrides Google's. I set it to ctrl+shift+v and it feels exactly the same as before. Not ideal, but a reasonable stopgap until Vivaldi fixes it.
-
possible workaround
Remove shortcut in Settings → Keyboard → Window → Paste&Go.
Double click the cell in Google Sheets before pasting with Ctrl + V, that should also remove any formatting.May be this helps to solve, had not tested yet, was told by Vivaldi Q&A team member.

@lightstream It is on chrome. Something similar is with office365 with chrome which pretty much says "I can't paste without my companion extension".

Not sure when the new shortcut was introduced, but now you can:
Ctrl-F12 -> Search for "paste" -> Paste as Plane Text
Set the shortcut to your liking. Eg Ctrl-Shift-V
