Toolbar customization, settings reset and disabling the autoplay of videos – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2679.3

[New][Settings] Option to reset to default for every section (VB-7696)
I'm confused, didn't we already have this?
-
The toolbars have a bug that wasn't present in the previous release. Spacers are now highlighted when hovering over the toolbar

Now it resets twice to make it extra default

Wow, that's a changelog. Good work, folks, can't wait to get testing.
-
- [New][Toolbars] Create a drag-and-drop toolbar customization mode (VB-70320)
Huzzah! It's one step closer to being here now! Though I still don't understand why the dragging modifier key was changed to ctrl (cmd on macOS) or why it is still needed now that we have this mode...
- [Address bar] Modifier key + click on history back/forward buttons doesn’t work as intended (VB-89106)
Great to see this was fixed, though
modifier key + click on the reload button
still doesn't work as intended; for those unaware, this was another way of cloning the active tab (VB-89154). -
@pafflick @guigirl
Thank you, I set it global but setting at page does not work, too. Open: https://www.cnet.com/science/biology/dolphins-taste-their-friends-pee-to-identify-them/Scroll down a bit pop up with video start, reloaded or not.
Vivaldi 5.3.2679.3 / Chrome 102.0.5005.55 on Linux.
Cheers, mib

@Aronand The changelog sure is big this time, but doesn't it also include a bunch of changes from the previous snapshot?
For example: VB-7696, VB-89066, VB-89028, VB-88846, and VB-89048 were mentioned in the previous snapshot's changelog, so why were tey mentioned today as well.

@mib2berlin Can you find another website where the video content is not an ad? I'm not seeing it (with the adblocker disabled), since it's probably shown only in your location.
-
27th and a lot of things to try out
-
@mib2berlin I have the same problem on my end, HOWEVER! It works perfectly on a new, fresh profile. Currently fiddling with my settings to see what's making that setting not work on my normal profile, will edit this message when I find what broke it.
EDIT : Found the issue! The autoplay blocker doesn't work properly if you manually allow it for another website!
In my specific case, I disabled it globally but allowed it specifically for Tweetdeck (because autoplay blockers tend to make gifs wonky on Tweetdeck). I removed the custom authorization for Tweetdeck and now it's all good! Should I submit this as a bug report, since it's probably not intentional behavior?EDIT 2 : Submitted it as a bug report (VB-89378), since I can easily reproduce the bug.

The autoplay block feature is half working, some site work some don't, making it useless exactly as the half working adblocking feature. Still have to use extensions as if the features aren't there anyway.

disabling the autoplay of videos...another extension less

[Mail] Unable to move messages from folder types other than Inbox and Other (VB-88881)
Confirm this was the same as my earlier submission (VB-88857) Mail messages can't be moved for some accounts (empty context menu).
Confirm I can now select to move from/to any folders and any accounts for this profile.
(Actually this is a bit dangerous - I wasn't paying enough attention while testing and now I don't remember which message I just moved!)

The email client is not rendering some signature images in this build for me and in windows.
My own signature is affected with an included "<img src="data:image/gif;base64,..."
Will test later in linux.
P.S. Also happening in linux.

Still hoping for customizable mouse rocker gestures.
(I post this every 2 years or so. Shrug.)

By the time it is implemented, we will be so used to this configuration of rocker gestures, so we won't change them
-
I've been posting about it off and on since 2015, so it's safe to say I'm not holding my breath.

Hi ! One option you may look into is disabling gestures completely in Vivaldi and setting up "application specific" ones (with rocker support) in StrokesPlus (freeware and portable). I have done this in the past for V and several other apps with either limited or no gesture support.
Basically you setup an "application specific" set of gestures that send keystrokes or shortcuts to V, allowing you to customize it all kinds of ways. I originally used it so I could see the gesture trails like in other browsers.
-
Thanks-- well aware of Strokes+ and I believe there was one called StrokeIt back in the day.
Those all work OK on Windows but not on linux or macos, I use all those operating systems. Only Firefox is cross-platform and supports mouse chording customization in a (mostly) functional way.
