Persistent Page Actions
-
@LonM Follow the instructions from this reddit thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/vivaldibrowser/comments/6twnf0/i_want_to_enable_filter_obscure_by_default_for/
I'm using the filter intensify page action as default for all websites as a result.
-
@musings This method would only apply the style to the whole vivaldi window, which wouldn't work for JS actions like the page reader.
-
In the meantime copy any of the CSS in the folder:
C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application\2.11.1811.33\resources\vivaldi\user_files
Content_Blocker.css
CSS_Debugger.js
Filter_Black_and_White.css
Filter_Grayscale.css
Filter_Intensify.css
Filter_Invert.css
Filter_Obscure.css
Filter_Sepia.css
Fonts_Monospace.css
Highlight_Focus.css
Highlight_Hover.css
Inline_Access_Keys.css
Page_Minimap.js
Reader_View.js
Skewed_Images.js
Transform_3D.css
Transitions_Forced.css
Transitions_Removed.cssAnd make a userstyle with Stylus:
If you leave the applies to Everything blank, it will apply to all pages:
And you can control to exclude the current domain or the current URL with the button of Stylus:
So simple like that.

In others words:
If the mountain don't come to you, you have to go to the mountain.

The request was made in 2018! Come on, Vivaldi team, please! We're still waiting for it.
I, too, would like to see Page Actions be optionally permanent on a page-per-page basis,
or, optionally, turned on/off permanently or all pages, e.g. Page Minimap.
-
@tegehel A persistent page action is a userscript. These are natively supported by Vivaldi. I would argue persistence goes against the nature of page actions, but something could be said for even better native support of userscripts and a way to toggle targets right from the UI.
-
Page Action seems to turn off on Vivaldi restart.
PS: Since I heard about Page Actions I find myself constantly enabling Filter Invert for almost every new open webpage (I prefer text of a light foreground on dark background). And I find it extremely disappointing to lose this setting when I need to rstsrt (I usually have about 20 webpages open). -
@luckyowner Page Actions aren't really meant for long term changes.
If you want to change the styling of webpages regularly, I suggest using the extension Stylus. It allows you to add your own CSS modifications to the styling of websites. This is similar to what most of the page actions do, but Stylus gives you some more options and can automatically apply the changes.
Here is Vivaldi's CSS for the
Invert Page Action
:html { color: #ffffff !important; background: #000000 !important; filter: invert(100%) !important; } /* Inverting images or video does not do any good */ img, video { filter: invert(100%) !important; }
-
Same here. It's annoying that Vivaldi doesn't remember the page action for a given site.
After each restart, I must manually set page action for the site again.
-
@nomadic Wow! I was not aware about Stylus. Thank you!!
Yet I need to study how to fine tune it (just set invert for everything seems not a good idea as well). But I believe this forum is not the right place for asking questions about Stylus (change font, disable for results of Startpage search etc.). -
This post is deleted! -
@helixo Just FYI: Stylus + Global dark style (https://userstyles.org/styles/31267/global-dark-style-changes-everything-to-dark) did the trick for me.
PS: There is a drawback - the syle "eats out" solid-color fill (makes them transparent) even so for me it is much better than manually change each webpage settings after browser restart. -
Seems like #enable-force-dark flag ("Enable" option) behaves better than any dark style I've found so far.
-
I dare to revive this... although I can assign actions to mouse/keyboard shortcuts, the ability to assign some actions (especially invert and/or sepia) to some websites (...every website without the decency to have a dark skin) by default would be wonderful.

Done. Install Dark Reader and forget:

Can 4.000.00+ users be so wrong?
And 10.215 users with 5 stars:

@barbudo2005 This request will never be implemented, there are a ton of extensions which can jump in to perform this and userscripts can be added native. There is no reason for Vivaldi to do anything.
-
@barbudo2005 Tried that, doesn't work (for me) - certainly not as "install and forget" - results were suboptimal and I had the feeling it requires constant interaction...
I just found about the Stylus extension so I'm gonna try that one. Still, native option would feel somewhat better, I hoped times when I was drowning in extensions were left behind when I left Firefox

I loved this statement. And it should be very clear to many people that Vivaldi will not incorporate certain features that can be achieved in another way and should be dedicate itself to the core of the browser.
-
Please give the links of pages.

@barbudo2005 which pages? The once I invert regularly or those which didn't work for me in Dark Reader? The later I can't say - it's been a while I've tried that, I just remember it didn't worked as I wanted on some webs so I ditched it.
