Minor update (3) for Vivaldi Desktop Browser 5.1
-
@kfet: Looks like other Chrome-based browsers have the same issue:
https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/21302 -
@kfet Reverting to the previous build fixes it, I guess I'll just wait and see if the next update resolves the issue.
-
Thank you, @ruari and @vivaldi !!!
-
@kfet: I don't recall ever going to that page before, but I see it contains two things:
-Vivaldi (which does nothing but close the tab--no idea what this is)
-Web Store (which links to the Chrome extension store)How are you using that page? Is it maybe where PWAs go?
-
@rseiler that's where you can see and manage all the web apps.
Here's how to save a web page as a web app: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/miscellaneous/progressive-web-apps/
edit: sorry at_treego, wrong reply

I think you may want to address this to someone else ... I made no inquiry about this.

Thank you for this!
-
Beginning to wonder why i use Snappies instead of the cutting-edge Stable...

It's been what feels like so long since my last minor Vivaldi update! But I know y'all are busy working every single day on this amazing piece of software! Also, I'd like my medal now

Are there political reasons for removing Mail.ru?

Are there political reasons for removing Mail.ru?
You can assume so, and its certainly for the right reasons.
I assume that your questions are just meant to be provocative and ignorant, but I still want to make you aware that the Russian Federation has started an invasion into, a war against Ukraine about a week ago, which has been condemned by the UN General Assembly Emergency Meeting yesterday. (See also.)
Condemning the 24 February 2022 declaration by the Russian Federation of a “special military operation” in Ukraine,
I know that you have not asked what the connection of the aforementioned website to the state is here exactly. (1) It provides cash as it presumably pays taxes. (2) It provides visibility and could be used itself for propaganda. (3) I am not aware whether the Russian government is directly involved in operations or how privacy may be affected, but the Kremlin most certainly can exert some form of control over this website if it wishes, just as it can close media outlets that do not conform with their wording or agenda, just as it continues to punish anyone participating in demonstrations on Russian soil.
So assuming that some political influence may be exerted over that service and assuming that there could be political consequences for expressing liberal thoughts via mail when using their service, it straight out is Vivaldi's obligation to stop promoting this service. What does it have to do with my browsing experience?
Fun question: Precisely nothing.
You are not affected in any way by vivaldi cancelling its contract with any company or stopping to promote any service. You can just browse there as you can browse to any site you wish.
