"GPU process" in Vivaldi, consumes 4 times more RAM than Chrome!

Hi, I cant verify on a clean profile with latest Vivaldi stable, it use the same GPU process RAM than Chrome on Windows 11.
Edge use only 50% of it, nice.

With the video in 1080pHD i get on Chromium 96 and Vivaldi 5.1 for for GPU 380 MB at start and after start 270 MB.

Please check only with the video, may be tabs with other sites you had open cosumed GPU.

Vivaldi ended up being the most RAM-hungry in this test, consuming just over 1GB of memory just to keep the three tabs running. Firefox had the lowest RAM usage, using around 700 MB with the same three pages. Chrome, Edge, and Opera GX all performed roughly the same.. .

Vivaldi cannot use the proprietary codecs that Chrome uses. Vivaldi cannot afford the licensing. Therefore, Vivaldi uses open source codes that do not all run just the same on all GPUs. Sometimes they cause the GPU to do more work and consume more resources.

So sometimes, turning off hardware acceleration can reduce resource usage dramatically.

All tabs are closed and... RAM consumption, clearly inadequate!

Hi, there is nothing to fix, these problems happen only for a few user and the developer cant reproduce it.
I have Vivaldi stable and snapshot installed on 3 different systems on Windows 10 and 11 and Linux and don´t have this problems.
You can report your problem to the bug tracker, may the developers can reproduce yours.
