Handle page actions as commands – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2457.3

@luetage: I know how to register a mouse gesture, I have already registered 27. There are two different things I'm addressing: First the gestures and how they cannot be set in this version and second the so called fast forward gesture or keyboard shortcut.
- First issue: Let me outline everything that happens since this version concerning the mouse gestures:
- Settings -> Appearance -> Uncheck (or leave unchecked) the box "open settings in a tab". So you open the settings in a popup window
- Go to mouse gestures. The frame is EMPTY. It is not showing the already registered gestures and you cannot register new ones either because it's impossible or because you cannot see anything to properly register them
- If you try to close the popup window by using the corresponding gesture IT DOES NOT work, meaning that gestures DO NOT WORK in popup windows. The popup will close ONLY by clicking "x"
- Now once again go to Settings -> Appearance -> Check (or leave checked) the box "open settings in a tab". So you open the settings in a regular tab
- Go to mouse gestures. The frame for the already registered gestures is showing the gestures as it should. But ... if you try to register a NEW ONE it's - again - impossible. The frame GOES EMPTY AGAIN and either and it's really impossible to register a new gesture or you cannot see what you're doing.
- So, to sum up: mouse gestures do not work in a popup window. Gesture's frame is empty not showing the registered gestures and it is - also - empty when trying to add new ones. But when opening the settings in a tab, then we can see (in the frame) the registered gestures but we cannot add new ones because the frame goes empty again.
- Second issue: the "fast forward" gesture (as I mean it)
- I go to settings-> keyboard -> page. For the "fast forward" gesture I register a keyboard shortcut, for example Ctrl+Shift++.
- I open a search in Google. Next I'm trying to go to the 2nd search page not by clicking on "next" at the bottom of the page, but by using the registered keyboard shortcut (i.e. Ctrl+Shift++) - NOTHING HAPPENS, I'm still in the first page.
- So there is no need to register a mouse gesture since the keyboard shortcut is not working
- The problem is: are we talking about the same thing? I wished I could go to the next page (in sites that provide for it as, for example, google) by using a shortcut or a gesture without previously having visited the page and having registered it in history, because then I can use the rocker gesture.
-
@nutcracker Alright. Let’s go through this. Mouse gestures do not show the animation in a separate settings window. I can confirm this. Setting a gesture for fast forward is still possible and it will work on the google search page. Setting a keyboard shortcut for fast forward is possible too and it will likewise work on the google search page. Please try all of this in a fresh profile. Apart from mouse gestures not showing animations in settings window, I do not encounter the other issues.

But…Capture Area Shortcuts are gone. Again.
It can be used only from status bar icon.
Any other variant (even from menu)…failed successfully!Did you report this regression? It's important that such issues are reported when testing snapshots.
EDIT: I reported as
VB-83877
, it's a big issue for me. -
@pathduck Nope, it was already confirmed/reported by @Ruarí as VB-83840.
I guess these should be merged now.
-
@gif2d Aww, missed that

NEW REGRESSION: Noticeable delay when opening Settings UI in 4.4.
I notice this a lot when testing stuff involving a restart and I immediately want to enter the settings. In 4.3 it opens at once, in 4.4 there's a delay or it fails to open unless the hotkey is pressed again.
Opened as
VB-83879
Clean profile of 4.4.2457.3 (Official Build) (64-bit) Windows 10 Version 21H1 (Build 19043.1288) * Make sure Vivaldi is closed * Launch Vivaldi * As soon as the UI appears, press Ctrl+F12 to open Settings UI * Nothing happens * Try pressing again * After a couple of seconds or more keypresses the Settings UI opens I have a theory this might be caused by the new scanning of user_files for page actions and adding them to the keyboard hotkeys, and it needs to do this on every startup. The Settings pages in 4.3 Stable appear nearly instantly.
-
@gif2d VB-83840 was Fixed. A next, when i do not know, version will get the patch.
-
-
@pathduck I cannot replicate, opens immediately for me
-
@pathduck I cannot reproduce it either.
-
@infosrefanvlad @iAN-CooG - You might have to try a couple of times, and make sure the browser is properly closed between tries. I can reproduce it most of the times.
Here's a video. I launch 4.4 Snapshot first, then press Ctrl+F12 soon as the UI appears. Notice nothing happens before I press the second time. Then I launch 4.3 Stable and it reacts on first press of Ctrl+F12. Both are clean profiles.
https://ttm.sh/eBU.mp4Edit: Better video, with an actual clean profile, i.e. Settings UI set to open as normal (not in a tab). Same thing.

So I was sitting at one of the W7 testing machines, using the last Stable, checking to see what's going on with window to window tab dragging.
Before recording, I dragged the Start Page tabs from window A to window B (B is recorded).
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g_VhB26nhaN1MQzwg0pjQCzPSfOXx9QH/view?usp=sharing
During recording, I Ctrl +clicked the tabs you see. All commands were Ctrl + clicks. The result is the one in the video: a strange one.I know I clicked very fast, I'll try to test slower and come up with better footage and an exact description of what's happening. I'll try to come up with a reproducible report. It happened kind of late that someone noticed those Stable bugs, but better later than never.
Interestingly, once bugged, the tabs stay bugged. They always, consistently, have the same issue. Until a browser restart.
Of course, I would not report this if the issue if it didn't persist in this Snapshot. -
@luetage I can reproduce the broken mouse gestures on a popup window (also when using a new profile).
In
Vivaldi
stable, most bindings are broken on popup windows, close and reload are the few working correctly for me.
In current Snapshot, Keyboard and Rocker operations seem to target the correct Window/Tab.
Mouse gestures on popup windows may have been temporarily disabled in favor of gaining proper forward/back semantics for the other shortcut types. The point regarding fast-forward is that it can not be triggerd by
rocker gestures
since they have fixed functionalities (see open feature request). -
Please also fix the problem with duplicate sent mails from Exchange, Outlook and Office365 accounts

@andrey-kosharov Had you sent a bug report? If not, please report bug to Vivaldi tracker.

@guigirl: OK so today I found something interesting.
I was playing around with Google Chrome (now updated to ver 95) using a new profile (created with --user-data-dir command line switch) and surprised to find that DoH is missing from the Privacy and security setting page. I thought they removed it in Chrome 95 for some reason. Then I went ahead and restarted Chrome and DoH is back! "Weird" I thought. So I enabled it. But then it occurred to me. What if I use this newly created Chrome profile, that has DoH enabled, in Vivaldi? So I launched Vivaldi with "vivaldi-stable --user-data-dir=test" (test is the name of the directory of the profile) and voila! Vivaldi now has DoH support in Linux! Here's a screenshot:
https://postimg.cc/qgdC09vHI'm not sure what are the consequences of using Chrome made profile data in Vivaldi. Maybe something will break, maybe some privacy concerning settings that was disabled in Vivaldi is now enabled, but either way it's interesting to see that DoH setting can be forced to appear using this method. Lol.

I can see the setting for DoH in Chromium 95 when i use a different profile destination.
If your Chrome 95 does such issue it is crapped Google software.@ruulrskybound said in Handle page actions as commands – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2457.3:

What you had done is not recommended. Broken Vivaldi browser profile, weird issues, you will get, young Padavan.
If you use such profile, do not expect we can help to fix future issues. Do not mix browser profiles! -

Not for me on Debian 10/11.

@andrey-kosharov
There's an issue for this VB-70666.
@ltgorm had started adding a per-account setting to mail settings that allows user to decide if a copy of each message sent from m3 should be uploaded to Sent folder on the server. We'll hopefully get back to that soon. -
Is it a known issue that download size for pages seems to be incorrect? I'm talking about the one that shows inside the address field - oftentimes I see 80-90 MB downloaded within a second or two, which can't be true (my connection isn't even that fast).
