Tab fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2367.3

@potmeklecbohdan: He makes a fair point @pesala

[Menus] Alt-menu does not work in full-screen mode (VB-81467)
-
I just want to add that despite the low final digit (.3) we are actually quite close to the stable release of 4.1. With few people working at the moment (most Vivaldians are on vacation) we have only had a few, fairly conservative fixes. Thus you are getting a build from main (rather than a stablisation branch as would have been common this far along the release cycle).
I did not want to call this one RC yet but we are getting very close. Keep this in mind when giving feedback.

@ruarí It will be interesting to see how some users react to the V menu icon now also showing in full screen
But I understand the reasoning, so that it will also be available for the mouse. However the alt-key does not show the horizontal menu as it should (at least for consistency). Maybe I should report that as well

@ruarí Is the Search field showing in Fullscreen a bug, or a new feature?
(VB-80904) Search Field Displayed in Fullscreen Mode (when show as button is enabled)
-
@pesala Might need to specify: Only when "Show as a button" is selected.
-
I have discovered a new button:

I'm on stable. Last time I checked it was impossible for Mail&RSS to delete all my RSS feeds that I imported while it was beta. While RSS feeds were being deleted one by one, the rest of feeds would try to get updates. Vivaldi would basically fill the database with feeds contents then go back and delete the entries one by one. Is it still the same story?

Is this a secret build or why it is not linked on https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/snapshots/ ?
The latest version on the right column shows still 2358.15 too ... -
@quhno It is there now. Try refreshing the page.
-
Check for update from 4.1.2358.15 does not always work until a restart of Vivaldi snapshot and then try again and it works. First try the download failed, 2nd try worked.
17th. -
@stardepp: It has been there for a while now.
-
@ruarí Only in Snapshot or already in Stable Vivaldi?
-
@stardepp The "Update Ready" button has been there since Vivaldi started supporting silent updates. It only appears after Vivaldi downloads an update, so you will only see it if your installation actually supports silent updates, and not all installation types do as of yet.
On Windows, if you have Vivaldi installed for "All Users", then that type of installation cannot autoupdate yet. (Currently, only Standalone installations and installations for the current user can.)
You also will not see it unless you have "Automatically Download and Install Updates" enabled or, in earlier builds, had "Notify About Updates" enabled.
-
@xyzzy Thank you for this detailed information. I have installed Vivaldi Snapshot as standalone and Vivaldi Stable only for the current user. Yes, I have enabled "Download and install updates automatically". So can it be that I get this notification every now and then?
-
Seeing a contant "Error prefetching" on status bar with this build. A spam email does not show a body and I guess it is the one causing the error.
Anyone having a similar problem?

[Tabs] Add option to turn off auto expansion of accordions (VB-81565)
So far I'm in love with this! Seems to be the best one-bar compromise between compact and loose.
BTW
Is it just my accordions, or... ? -
Jokes aside, this is how I see accordions due to
[VB-81579] Incorrect inactive tab backgroundfor bottom tab barwith Accordion Tab Stacking on and Transparent Tab Bar on
[VB-81580] Incorrect round corners for active tabBut TBH this one
[VB-81703] Remove from Tab Stack does not work when used on an individual unselected tab
is probably more important. -
@stardepp Yes, I would think so. If I remember correctly, Vivaldi also only checks for updates once per day. If an update is available, it will download in the background and when it is ready to install, the "Update Ready" button appears.
In order for that button to appear, you need to let Vivaldi check for updates and download the update on its own. If you manually check for updates and an update is available, Vivaldi will present you with the same update UI that we have been using for ages now.
I have enabled "Download and install updates automatically". So can it be that I get this notification every now and then?
