Vivaldi crumbles cookie dialogs, raises the bar on privacy and design
-
@darkpoetcc , hmm, maybe one of ourdevelopers know why you don't have it in the adblocker list, or can give you the filter files, which you can add to the list.
-
There is another problem with the new bookmarking system, it fetches info about the page from the page's scripts, so if you would happen to use a script-blocker like uMatrix you can't bookmark a webpage and all the entries are empty.
-
@npro I think it just uses the current html
description
meta attribute and I can't imagine why a script-blocker would need to block that. Do you have an example URL?Bookmarking fails for some URLs and they are aware of the issue.
-
@pathduck I just found one url, irrelevant of the fact if there is a script blocker or not, check this for example: https://archived.forum.manjaro.org
-
@npro Yes, it's not because of a script-blocker but something else that causes the bookmarking dialog to fail. But they're aware of it.

Thanks for letting me know this .

Still has the awful new tab dragging functionality, yuck.
Another call to get the old tab functionality back in as an option: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/58358/restore-old-animation-of-moving-tabs

Yeah, I don't have the Remove Cookie Warnings option; I followed the instructions, and can get as far as seeing the Sources list...while there are three enabled (ABP, Ads from Vivaldi partners, and EasyList), there is no Remove Cookie variant anywhere in the list that I see.
I never got them either
-
Are you looking for sites that are immune to the cookie crumbler?
-
@gwen-dragon Ok. Thanks very much!

Love the new update except for one small thing and that's the new revamped bookmarks, I like the new look and feel but I personally love the old one's way of handling bookmarks.
-
@npro: Ya man this happened to me so I just uninstalled Vivaldi and reinstalled Vivaldi version 3.7 and now everything is as it should be.
-
Oh BOY do I not like the new bookmark behavior. It feels like there's an extra step now. Before, I would hit Ctrl+D and then either Enter if it was going in the usual folder or find the folder I needed and then hit Enter. Now it's either Ctrl+D twice, or once and then a click on the "added bookmark" thing in the address bar, and then find the folder I want and then hit or click Enter. I hate it. Most of my bookmarks go into one specific folder that isn't the "Bookmarks" folder, and this creates extra work for me.

Personally, I have never needed these fields. Immediately removed them in a new form for adding bookmarks:
Likewise; how did you do this?
-
@valiowk: Oh my god, I hadn't even noticed this, why would they do that? They really messed up with the bookmark changes.
-
@stardust: It puts them in Bookmarks by default, and at the TOP of the list rather than the bottom.

I prefer them to be on the bottom I guess
-
@carrep: Agreed, I hate what they did to bookmarks, for the exact same reasons as you. I didn't even know about it putting the new bookmarks at the top instead of the bottom, until I read another comment here just now.
-
@stardust: Same, they really goofed with these changes, they changed something that didn't need fixing at all and made it way worse.
