Tab, menu and Speed Dial fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2218.3
-
@Ruarí I will honestly say that it looks better than before the post-midnight update, but still the speed dial looks broken. For example previously the icons were smaller and now they are minimally larger.... you can also see that they are badly centering or fitting images into frames because of this, many of the images I made look worse than afternoons. So I'm still waiting for fixes for speed dial because simply put, instead of moving forward you've messed up what was working.
And I suggest you see my post about Speed Dial 2.0 which is probably a duplicate and as usual one of the moderators will attach but I want to present at least how it could look more developed.

@jon: personally I would want to delete all contacts when removing some accounts(like testing different mail services in vivaldi) then, suppose it should be an option for others like me
We will need to add that to the list. There are some complications to it. Contacts might be used by multiple mail addresses, for example, but we will add it to our list.

If I select multiple tabs and move them, the order of the tabs is changed:
EDIT1:
It does not happen every time.
Sometimes it is also impossible to move a single tab:
Vertical tabs on the left.
EDIT2:
Personally, I think the Edge implementation is better:
Win10x64 Vx64

The "Open Link" context menu option for highlighted text is broken since the last version: it alsways opens vivaldi.com. A devil's plan or a bug?
I would appreciate this fixed as I use this quite often.Speaking of context menus: maybe you could make the menu customization a little bit easier by explaining the options a bit better? For starters I didn't know that "Content" is the current menu. And there is a "Optimize fullscreen videos" command in the Tab menu content list that never shows up in any menu...
-
@uhura2000 Can’t confirm, when I highlight link text it opens the link I’m highlighting. Doesn’t default to Vivaldi.
-
@uhura2000 I guess you used the open link at the very beginning, not the context-specific one.

@ugly: The interface is a bit rough at this time. Basically you select Opera 12, unclick using the default folder, select the Profile folder and start. It will at this time import all accounts and your contacts. It can take a while with a lot of mails. The mail accounts are imported as inactive and you will need to activate them when this is done. Import progress is displayed in the status bar at this time.
I think I was able to get it going. As I mentioned earlier, the 'Choose a folder' option does not appear when I open the import menu until I select another browser option from the dropdown menu and then switch back to Opera 12.x.
I assume the difference between my options and the screenshot @Pesala posted is that I am on Linux. So the option for Microsoft Edge and IE wouldn't be available.
I was able to select my profile from a standalone Opera 12 install. I tried with a clean standalone Vivaldi snapshot. Bookmarks, and Speed Dial imported successfully. Mail would not import for me.
There were a couple of issues:
1 - I have an old hotmail POP3 account that showed as an imported account, but the server information was incorrect. The import seemed to pull in the user information from an IRC account I had in M2 instead of the hotmail server information. No emails were imported for the hotmail account and no other email accounts from M2 were imported. The import in progress arrow kept spinning, but there was no information in the status bar.So I deleted the IRC account from M2 and tried import again.
2 - This time it seemed to import my hotmail POP3 account credentials properly (no passwords, but I didn't check to import passwords, only email). However, no emails were imported, and no other email accounts were imported. The import in progress arrow kept spinning, but there was no information in the status bar.
So I deleted my hotmail POP3 account from M2 (I made a backup first) and tried again.
3 - This time no email accounts were imported at all. I have a Vivaldi IMAP email and 2 other IMAP email accounts. They did not appear in the list of email accounts at all. The import progress arrow kept spinning and there was never any information in the status bar.
I do have a lot of emails in M2, but I did let the import process sit for about half an hour each time I tried.

I wish soon it might be possible to import Mail from other Vivaldi installations too...
-
@ugly , thanks for the information. In reality our import function is a bit rough at this time. We will need to work on this a bit more.
The good thing is that it is getting there. I am able to import my old mail. It takes a long time, but I have imported hundreds of thousands of mail. Now we just need to get it working for you as well. It looks like it is the initial phase that is the big problem. Finding the details. We have not spent an awful lot of time on the UI part there and it requires some polishing. We will get there.
We are also working on Thunderbird import and we will get M3 import and import from mbox and more.
-
@Crimsonshade , that is the plan.
-
@jon Very pleased to hear it!

That sounds really great!!!

I assume that someone else has already reported the bug where using Select All (Ctrl+A) to select all messages also selects all folders in the panels at the same time? Happens with both Feeds and Mails.
-
Actually, the rerun filter thing is still hapenning.

On www.bandzone.cz do not work player.
uBlock = disable
Third-Party cookies = allow all -
@Pesala Contacts imported into a fresh installation for me at least.

The mail passwords were imported but not used.
Clarification. The importer imports both the SMTP and IMAP login entries from M2, but with the passwords blank. So, something's not right with the code that tries to retrieve the passwords for those entries in wand.dat. (No master password in my case.)
-
@burnout426 No luck here even after two attempts.

This confused me when I imported the first time. It was not expected at all that I would then have to uncheck "local account" in the account's settings. There should be a note about that in the import dialog. Ideally, when things are more stable, when the import is finished, "local account" should be automatically disabled for the account and a check for mail for the account should be automatically triggered.
