GMail access for Mail Technical Preview users – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2115.71

I've enabled Less Secure Apps. Then V. asked me whether app-specific or global password. I choose global, and now V. is stuck attempting to sign in.
Ok, it seems to be working with the "app specific" setting.
-
@paul1149 I used the app-specific. Is interesting as here it asked for "app password" or "oauth"

I remember back in the day when Gmail sent broken code to Opera users, Opera had to create a browser.js hack to fix it. -
Hi, I have some issues with this build:
- Amazon.de is not reachable (Opera, Chrome are working, testing with IP does not work, too)
- Profile avatar is not shown, only default image
Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin Both work for me.
Time to troubleshoot ? -
@TbGbe
Thanks for testing, hrm, does not work in a clean profile neither. Will check guide.Cheers, mib

Google still blocking my sign-in for Gmail...
-
@mossman: Phone number? SMS hasn't been the recommended 2FA method for years. Apps like Authy are. And it's not like you need to use it every time, either, since you can request that Google remember a given device for 30 days or whatever the time period is in their case.
-
it's not working for two-factor authok it works on mail, but can't sign-in to google calendar
-
@baris-sehri: Exactly! Mail is working fine but Calendar is still OAuth only.
-
@npro: You're right of course just a legacy thing with me from the before time.
-
@npro I really wish I didn't. Sadly I feel for the Kool-Aid of being attracted to GMail back when it was invite-early (I was invited by a member of my extended family), mostly due to the constantly expanding storage. I'd love to move away, but I have two problems:
a) Where to move to?
b) How do I easily identify the full list of online services currently assigned to my GMail so I can work to transfer them over? -
Thanks!
I have tried this before but for some reason I can now access gmail from the technical preview. Yay!
At least POP3 - haven't tried IMAP. -
@Ruarí The app password doesn't work for logging onto Google Calendar.

Anywhere, just away. https://nomoregoogle.com/ lists quite a lot of replacements.
b) How do I easily identify the full list of online services currently assigned to my GMail so I can work to transfer them over?
Does it have Google in its name? Does its name start with G (though this doesn’t always mean it’s that one)? Does it have Gargle’s favourite colours in logo (again, may not be that one)? Does it (ask you if it can) be ‘more helpful & personalised’? Does it sync with another Gargle thing? Or… who would ever have guessed… is it listed as a Gargle thing in the above linked site? -

That's not quite what I meant. I mean that the major difficulty I have in moving away from Google, is that I have used the email address to register accounts on many websites in the past, and I'm worried I may forget one and subsequently lock myself out of an account.
-
@Crimsonshade Ohh, right. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I guess you’ve already thought of these
- Important is only what one can remember (though you may not agree)
- Search your e-mails for the usual words, such as
register
(if you don’t delete them) - Find the recovery e-mail for every account in your PW manager (if you use one)
-
@Hadden89 Exactly. As far as I know there is not much we can do about that. Google have to fix it.
