What a wonderful surprise!! It was a long wait since M2!!
Been checking for this on the forum for the last five years and had almost given up in the last three months. Checked on a lark today and lo and behold!!Thank you for persevering and thank you for this wonderful browser.
@huginnmunin , thank you for your kind words. This has taken longer than we hoped for, but we just doubled down and got it done. This is now the first step and we still have some loose ends and bugs to work on before final, but we will get there. We just felt it was time for you all to get to play with it!

@jon Why is the gmail sign in triggering an extra window though? In all other mail clients you can just input the password without going through google. Of course the application has to be approved in google settings once, but then it should work just with the password from the actual client.
@luetage , Google is requiring us to use this login method. They do support old clients with traditional IMAP login, but users have to go through a lot of hoops to enable that. Once Google enables Vivaldi access for all our users, this will work better. That being said, I wish we could just use the IMAP login, but we felt that was not really an option.

Missing the gpg functionality that the web client has. Also the side panel overlaps the interface so has to be closed to see messages.
-
@jon You are always there when you're words are more than welcome. Thank you for that and for being host for such a great a community.

@jon
The backend is not an issue for me. I would just like to have a separate panel and internal page, which only lists the feeds in the left panel.(With that implemented, maybe manual categories for the feeds would be nice.)

@srart , PGP is being worked on. We will get that. With regards to the panel overlapping, I assume you then have a floating panel? You might want to change that.

@jumpsq
Upvoted, but this would not solve my problem. If I would use the mail client, I could not hide those folders/sections. -

@Nekomajin , this is planned as well.

Hurrah!

How cool is this. Top job to the team who developed this. I can imagine it's a huge task creating a mail client from scratch.
I'll be hanging on for a stable release and currently use Postbox which is a paid for advanced version of Thunderbird but will evaluate when it's ready.
Will we be able to use the calendar standalone from email or does it require email to be set up as well?
Nice job all of you!

Wow, this is so exciting. I think I'll wait till tomorrow to celebrate this TP appropriately. Scrolling through the blog post, I already have a strong feeling that things are definitely going in the right direction. Danke schön!

@jon Thank you very much for answering me personally and directly. I really appreciate that. And I'm fully aware that this a very great day for you, the whole team and many loyal ex-Opera-users, who were awaiting eagerly the appearance of M3. That I'm not enthusiastic about shouldn't take away only a bit of your joy and pride on that day.
@xyzzy I really appreciate your words too. I could easily say, that I would feel homeless without Vivaldi. There's no such complete an experience with any other browser. At least I haven't found any appealing to me. Actually, this really makes me hesitate quite a bit. Nothing comes really near.
But what I wanted to express is, that there's also a bit of a feeling of getting homeless within Vivaldi with an increasing number of features that aren't for me.There's no need to step back from Vivaldi right now for me, as I'm only using stable versions anyway. So time to think about and in the end, I'll be still a loyal follower.
@HealingCross , good to hear you will be staying with us. We will have to work hard on the required flexibility. We understand that not everyone wants the same. That is core to Vivaldi. We will continue to work on making it easy for you to get a simple browser experience as well.

@jon Thank you for the explanation. And yeah, I guess I know what hoops you are talking about. For science I tried connecting my Android calendar through CalDAV instead of the Google Calendar option and you can only do that by allowing insecure apps and google nagging you with a dozen emails and checks. It works in the end though. Wouldn’t mind to do that for mail ^^

@luetage, hmmm. I am wondering if it would work to just set it up as an IMAP account or POP account and then enable it in Google. I have not tested it, but maybe it will work. If not, we should fix that as well so that is an option for advanced users.

Oh how I have been waiting for this day to come. I still use Opera 12.18 simply for M2 - it is still doing a great job. I haven't tested M3 yet (can we call it that way officially?) but based on what I read here, it's actually not too different from M2. I see this as a clear plus, part of me had feared that you'd invent something completely different :-). I also appreciate that you added the calendar support. Thank you.

@jon: forgot about the floating panel setting. For everything else is a good design, for email specifically it's a detriment. Maybe there is a way that could be a side app setting like the separate width?

@srart , I am sure there is a way. Feel free to add a feature request.

Any way to hide rss feeds from all messages? Looked everywhere! Thanks.

@sushubh There’s a “show feeds” button in the search bar, toggle that after clicking on “all messages”.
