Theme the Vivaldi About Page
-
This obviously isn’t a pressing issue, but the plain white About page (
vivaldi://about
) is no sight to behold. Furthermore the grey text on light background is hardly readable. It’s one of Vivaldi’s main internal pages and it should be a showpiece of the browser’s design, yet it’s quite disappointing when you look at it. The minimum action to rectify the situation would be to use the colors of the current theme and slap them on there. Hope one of the designers picks this one up!Created a mod for this some time ago ☛ https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/57420/theme-internal-pages

@luetage Also known as
chrome://version/
andvivaldi://version/
How it is on light theme? Because in dark theme is slightly ugly but pretty much easy to see. -
@Hadden89 Currently the page uses fixed colors, it’s independent from themes.
-
@luetage Yeah, that page is a good candidate to be put in theme selectors ecosystem.
(With most chromium internal pages the risk to mess up the read is higher)Acutally I'll extend the request for gpu&sync pages which are often very used.
But better start with the about which is pretty bind to chromium brands. -
@Hadden89 In a perfect Vivaldi we shouldn’t be forced to use Chromium pages for critical tasks (looking at you Chromium Settings); and the few Chromium pages that would still be of value, like
about
,gpu
, &c. should be themed, yes. But the About Page sticks out, because it’s accessible from the menu. That’s why it’s singled out here to be dealt with asap. -
Personally, I think it would be better to move the entirety of
vivaldi://about
to the settings page (perhaps undervivaldi://settings/about
). I don't think there's a need have an entire separate page for this info. In fact, Chrome already does this withchrome://settings/help
, which is quite similar to Vivaldi's about page. -
@AltCode But the help page only have the build version; the about/version is more accurate.
If all the info are moved there - is fine. (But would be harder to theme then) -
@Hadden89 Hence why I said it's similar and not the same. They share the same basic information, and Vivaldi's about page is indeed more detailed, so I still stand about moving it to
vivaldi://settings/about
(and I did mean to say moving all of the info there). -
@AltCode That's also legit and worth to be requested. I only pointed that out because is "off topic" from the request -which is about theming the page ^^
-
@AltCode Would solve the issue too, I’m fine with either. Personally I’d prefer the page separately though, but that’s a matter of taste. Depends on what the team decides to do with it I guess. If the information provided stays the same it can be moved, in case the page is expanded and worked on heavily it might be better to feature it outside of settings.
-
@AltCode But then they'd have to enable text selection at least for this section.
-
Alternatively, we already have the biscuit which displays us some info in the status bar. So maybe we need to also have a doughnut & a pancake?
-
@Steffie
DoughnutButton: press to create a delicious hole in your current page.
PancakeButton: checks Vivaldi’s current supply of syrup and restocks when empty.Makes sense. I guess we want this.
-
But
on? -
Please add an option to make the vivaldi://about page use our theme's colors, similar to how "reader view" works. This is especially useful when we use dark themes, to keep it visually consistent and be easier on the eyes at night.
