16‐ANSI color themes
-
A proposal to transform Vivaldi themes to use regular 16‐ANSI color schemes in future.
Advantages:
-
No more fixed colors in the user interface, since user defined colors can be used instead. Fixed red and green colors of elements and text are a prime example.
-
Reducing the amount of automatically calculated colors, which lead to mixed and uneven results. For a list of current theme colors take a look at
vivaldi://themecolors/
. -
Better readability of text color variations.
-
Better integration with the rest of the operating system, ANSI colors are being used by terminal emulators, text editors, IDEs, &c.
-
A comprehensive selection of already existing color schemes can be ported to Vivaldi.
-
Possibility to provide full syntax highlighting in the UI.

I must admit that creating a 16-colour scheme is much harder, so it should be possible but not required. Not sure how it could work. Even just transforming the current theme system w/o keeping it would be pretty hard I think.
