Vivaldi cannot play some videos on Windows
-
Hello,
I am facing a problem that Vivaldi can't play some videos on sites other than YouTube, for instance Streamable, LiveLeak etc. I have installed Flash. Turning on or off hardware acceleration does not give any effect.
Videos are visible, but clicking play does nothing. In some cases clicking play causes infinite buffering.
Below I attach config:Vivaldi 2.11.1811.52 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

@matir143 Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
Flash is not relevant for video playback these days.
Most likely your issue is caused by an extension. Try running Vivaldi in Guest View or a Private Window. If it works there then it's most likely an extension.
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/guest-view/
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/private-windows/Go to Menu > Tools > Extensions and disable extensions one by one, restart and see if problem is fixed.

@Pathduck
Hello, unfortunately its not the case. Video doesn't play both in guest and private mode -
@matir143 Did you try to disable all extensions?
-
@Pathduck yes, it doesn't work too
-
@matir143 Then it will be harder...
First try to clear all cache and cookies, Tools > Delete Browsing Data (Ctrl+Shift+Del). Make sure Cookies, Storage, Cache and Applications Cache is selected. Don't select Passwords.
You'll need to log in to sites again after Cookies are cleared.
-
@Pathduck unfortunately it didn't helped too
-
@Pathduck I have also downloaded Chrome, there everything works. But also checked Edge and there nothing works (including YouTube).
-
@matir143 Are you running some kind of security/anti-virus in the background? Is it possible to temporarily disable it and see if it helps?
Also, if you press F12 to open Devtools, before clicking play.
Open the network tab at the top and click play.
Click on the network request that comes after clicking play, it should be a video stream.
Copy the General, Response headers, Request headers part and paste here in a code block. For instance, on this test video: https://streamable.com/zcafm
I get a request URL of:Request URL: https://cdn-b-east.streamable.com/video/mp4/zcafm.mp4?token=UiA1yEMMArkypaaZ5FbfNg&expires=1587242580
And a Status Code of 206 (partial content).
When the video streams it looks like this:

@Pathduck
ok I have managed to solve it. I forgot that I have Windows 10 N version that comes with no media support.
I have installed Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N and now everything looks fine. Thanks for help
-
@matir143 OK thanks for letting us know it works again
My fault too - I always forget about that Windows N thingy...
-
@matir143 said in Vivaldi cannot play some videos on Windows:
Chrome, there everything works.
I have Windows 10 N version that comes with no media support.
So Chrome has inbuilt set of (full) media support!?
Obviously we will have to remember that when trouble-shooting/comparing browsers!! -
