Open letter to Jon concerning M3
-
@Motionshot , I believe we will have a lot of major releases this year, to be frank. Mail, mobile and more. There is a lot of stuff we are using internally that just needs a bit of TLC before it goes out and some that needs a lot of TLC, but a lot of functionality is in place and we are moving faster and faster.

@Steffie You can download your whole email history using IMAP as well. That's what I do not get about POPers. Seemingly there is a perceived relation between the trust in e-mail providers and the preferred e-mail protocols, which I think is completely unsubstantiated. If you do not trust your e-mail provider, you should use e-mail encryption and of course store a local copy of your messages, but this has nothing to do with the selected e-mail protocol.

Every update.
Every snapshot.
Just looking for that one word.
M3.Jon, how much longer do you need to teach us non-sopranos patience?
-
@Locutus I suppose as long as it takes to polish the product for prime time.
-
I hope it does have windows 10 notifications and sound for new emails!
-
@saudiqbal Yes, it does.

If the initial version of M3 is going to be IMAP Only - will there be a form of local archive?
Can we move every email out of an IMAP account and store it on the local PC while still having fully searchable.
The reason I use POP in Opera Mail is because I cannot afford the costs to keep many GB of old email on the server. If I can move email from the IMAP account into a Local Archive then it will not take long for me to adjust.
Currently my Opera Mail checks 42 different mailboxes, all using POP. About 10 of these are actually dead accounts which I am just archiving the data for.

@mallen The answers to your questions are not entirely known yet.

@kahukura Consider this a rustling in the bushes, very close by.
-
@Ayespy Kinda like that I wanted to read. A real thank you.

Coming Soon

Is m3 going to be (optionally) integrated into Vivaldi the way that m2 was integrated into Opera (Presto)?
-
@n8chavez it will be integrated into it, but unless you use it, it won't be activated nor will it use resources. In that sense it is "optional".
It won't be offered as an independent installer, if that's what you meant.
-
@n8chavez In pretty much exactly the same way, yes.

Great!! Now I just hope it gets released while I'm still alive...

Is the new blue Vivaldi logo on top left has anything to do with M3?
-
@saudiqbal Nothing at all. It is just due to a forum update.

The magical moment arrived...Vivaldi is equipped with M3 !!! Thanks to all working so long and hard on this. The real Opera truly revived !!
