@TheDragonReborn If you are on Windows, hit F1 and search for
crashes

@killchain: Hey, I'm fairly certain this is intended behavior? Unless I'm misunderstanding the issue. Could be best to just create a bug, and post the VB number here, and I'll take a look at it tomorrow
-
@luetage: Glad to hear
-
@lamarca: all of the crash logs in there are from last year.
Vivaldi is obviously crashing before the crash logging system can even kick in.
I need a special debug version that will have a crash catching wrapper that runs before anything else and can catch any kind of crash.
Does such a version exist internally?
If someone wants to message me from vivaldi I will be happy to get a crash log of this bug in action.

I re-read your post, sorry, Vivaldi doesn't generate file for lock up.

@TheDragonReborn
Hi, there was a Linux debug version some weeks ago but never heard about a Windows version. I use gdb (Gnu Debugger) sometimes for other software, Vivaldi does not crash for month for me. Is not any similar software for Windows?
It is not the same as a debug version to use a debugger with a regular Vivaldi version but may give a hint.Cheers, mib

@TheDragonReborn Could ProcDump of Sysinternals.com help in your case? I have never used it myself but maybe it could be of use here.
-
@killchain: It works this way for me from the very beginning. But I can't wait for this feature to be improved by showing tabs from all windows.

@thedragonreborn: this + url bar taking you to (almost) random websites, not to these you've typed horrible.
Yes. And traditionally, there are new bugs. Hope that VB-55451 will be first and last example in this release.

If you need a stable browser consider using the final version with an extra profile.
You are wrong. It is like comparing alpha vs pre-alpha.
-
@gwen-dragon: Vb number? Steps to reproduce? Not giving me much information here to work with.
-
@gwen-dragon: Thanks
-
I might be mistaken of course, but I'm pretty sure it had that at one point. Opera had it for sure. If that's not the case, then this'd automatically become a feature RQ
-
@killchain I don't think it has ever been any different.
Vote for Show All Windows and their Tabs in the Window Panel

It's getting worse, having to live with constantly increasing or never fixed bugs, often not reproducible by others, makes the whole experience just a burden.
-
random lockup (application does not respond)+crash searching in pages

clicking on some extensions icons (uBlock Origin, Twitter media downloader, Link panel by LonM) a couple of times gets them "corrupted" and have to be "repaired" if not reinstalled. I have even rebuilt my default profile without success, still happens. I don't know anymore what to do, I'll probably have to wipeout Vivaldi and try a clean reinstall, hell. This happened a couple of updates ago, something got corrupted in the process and there seem to be no way out.
-
reimporting uBlock Origin settings is still 1 chance out of 10 to get the confirmation popup remain on screen, takes minutes everytime I have to "repair" or reinstall uBO due to either corruption or update it, trying and retrying to reimport the settings.
-
deleting entries from address & search field with keyboard still forces to press Del, move the cursor down from top of list to the next entry I need to delete, repeat. The next entry after deleting one should be already selected.

We have a few big changes afaik, but they aren't ready just yet, hopefully we can get a snap this week containing them if all goes well
I know I really shouldn't (I'm bound to be disappointed) but that line really piques my interest...

CORS is still causing issues for me on Mac.
Access to font at 'x' from origin 'literally any site' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.This has been happening for 3 snapshot versions now, what is the deal?? This was fine a month ago, I updated, now this!
-
@pesala: Thanks for the pointer, voted up. I'm all for having the option to do it one way or the other.
-
@thedragonreborn: You can try to build a profile on the browser directly, to see where it happens.
In vivaldi://inspect/#apps, open the devtools on the UI, go to performance, and just before it happens, start recording.It may not happen in the UI thread, so maybe it won't be visible there, but it might.
In any case, if you successfully build a profile, don't hesitate to send it with a bug report ! -
@TheDragonReborn What we really need is a reliable way to reproduce the freeze. If Vivaldi is getting stuck in a loop while performing a DOM traversal, we need to figure out why.
