Can we have an option to start with the profile manager screen on each program start, instead of loading the last used profile?
-
Loving vivaldi so far, just a quick question since 1462 snapshot i'm unable to use middle mouse button onto the address bar drop down results to open in new tab, can someone confirm the issue, i want to be sure before reporting it.
-
@mossman: You should be able to import from one profile to another, the profiles should be shown in a dropdown when importing from Vivaldi.
-
@jacekn: The safe option would be to create a new account in your OS and use fast account switching (windows supports it).
-
@pathduck: chrome://settings/manageProfiles allow you to change this for now.
-
@luetage: No, the profiles are separate and can be synced separately to different sync accounts, if you so wish.

?!?
I'm talking about copying the new "person1" sub-profile to "work" and "personal" sub-profiles inside my Vivaldi profile - using the new profile management thing introduced in the latest snapshot. It only looked like it would start creating a new sub-profile... nothing about importing.
Edit: I didn't go ahead with creating that new sub-profile since I was worried it might mess up my settings on my stable install.

with the last snapshot, my burger icon had a white/transparent background (see here) and with this snapshot it's dark
does THE TEAM change it back or do I have to use a custom icon? -
Still getting instant crashes when trying to access notes. Same as in the current stable
VB-49506
EDIT: I've deleted my Notes file and that has stopped the crashing, but the file is not corrupt as I can still use it in a clean install of of v2.2.

@derDay Interesting question. I'd assume the image won't stay like is anyway. Every other icon in the address bar is a button with a monochrome
svg
, that changes color depending on theme. -
@pettern Yeah, I understand that. But this doesn't change the fact that we do custom modifications to the UI by modifying the application directly – and we stay on that application when we switch users, just the profile is different. Modifications aren't being synced.
-
@pettern Thats cool! Thanks for that hint!

[New] Add an option to open the context search in a background tab “Settings → Search → Page Selection Search in Background” (VB-29927)
[New] Allow double-click to rename tab stack (VB-49437)
Both are fantastic and much needed additions, THANK YOU guys!

Thank you all for the replies. I really want to have 2 separate profiles (1 for home and 1 for work). I hope, in the future, the team could consider implementing syncing multiple profiles (kept separately) on 1 Vivaldi account, so that 1 person having multiple profiles do not have to make several Vivaldi accounts just to keep the profiles separate.

I know but the options are quite limited. I am neither slenderman, spy, alien, pizza, football or a burger. I am the Motorpsycho duck ffs! :face_with_stuck-out_tongue:

Dropdown menu for profile management is not translated.

Just to follow this up,
Using the Notes panel in v2.2, I removed each note and copied the file to the snapshot with each removal. It kept crashing until every note was removed so I could not track the issue to any note in particular.
More crash dumps if needed

[New] Support managing people and guest profiles (VB-48767)
aw booo. Now I'm stuck with the ugly profile icons cause my "fix" doesn't work anymore. It only shows the custom image in the manager, but the toolbar icon shows the default ugly clip art.
It's probably only there as part of the experiment now to make it more prominent to get more users to test the feature.
It would probably make more sense to place the icon on the status bar.
-
It would be nice to see the icon next to Closed Tab icon instead of next to the address bar.
