Vivaldi 2.3 RC 1 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1440.30

@QuHno said in Vivaldi 2.3 RC 1 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1440.30:
@Folgore101 For me it works. I have set "right-click on bookmarks button> separate width" and can drag each of the floating panels, bookmarks and notes included, wider or narrower without problems. (W10 and W7)
edit: just re-checked: works without separate width too. /edit
Maybe i didn't explain correctly, the problem is not in dragging the Panels, the problem is in dragging Tabs in the Bookmarks Panel and the text, selected in a page, in the Notes Panel.
The problem occurs only if "Floating Panel" is active.

@Folgore101 Hm, strange, that bug was fixed a week ago and I can drag bookmarks and notes even when floating panels are active...
-
@ruario: Here a also all bookmarks unvisible. After downgrade to 1420 the bookmarks are visible again!

So you can confirm that you don't see the problem, besides deleting the "User Data" folder, what other tests could i do?
I've also tried Vivaldi 32bit, but i still have the problem.

@jacekn: Thanks.
Condiguring the interval for update checks would be welcome. -
is it a known issue, that clear private data spins forever? and does is delete everything?
Win7 x64 Vx64 -
@derDay No problem for me. I have it set to clear browsing history for all time, and downloads, storage, cache, and application cache.
It is not instant, but it does complete successfully.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit 1809 build 17763.253 • Snapshot 2.3.1440.30 (64-bit)

@derDay I have also run into this issue and have filed a bug. If you try again, the "Delete Browsing Data" dialog will still appear to be stuck but should complete normally after you restart Vivaldi. FYI, I've also encountered this glitch when testing with Chrome 72.0.3626.81 so I think this will require a fix from the Chromium team.

I can confirm your problem, just as you showed in the gif.

@derDay FYI, here's the Chromium bug for this glitch: https://crbug.com/927474
-
@ruario Thanks. I reported this as:
(VB-48835) Inconsistent Behaviour of Capture Filename Template Buttons
Perhaps double-click and drag&drop could both be replaced with single-click?**
Perhaps both double-click and D&D could be replaced with single-click? That would be easier to discover, and more efficient than double-click.
It would be good to get this resolved before 2.3 stable.

still force close vivaldi (I don't remember the VB, but is known). -
Search Suggestions Selected from Search Field Dropdown Are Not Populated In Search Engine
Steps to reproduce:
- In Settings\Search, Enable Show Search Field in Address Bar
- Enable Search Suggestions in Search Field
- Using the Search Field, begin typing a search string
- Use keyboard to scroll down in the search suggestions and select a longer search suggestion
(For example, I entered "NASA Gemini", then used keyboard to scroll down to "NASA Gemini Program" - Press Enter key to send selected search to the search engine
- Note that the text in the search engine's search field is only the texted entered on the keyboard, not the full text selected from the suggestions dropdown.
PLEASE NOTE: This does not occur if the mouse\touchpad is used to select the search suggestion.
Submitted as VB-48886

@x-15a2 Yes, same here. Thought it was an issue on my end
PLEASE NOTE: This does not occur if the mouse\touchpad is used to select the search suggestion.
Nice, I didn't notice that. That's good to know.

@Rexfahrer Thanks, i opened a new "VB-48889 - When "Floating Panel" is selected, it is no longer possible to drag tabs into the Bookmarks and Notes Panel", i do not want the "VB-48029 - Drag in floating panels doesn’t work for bookmarks and notes" to be referred to anything else.
-
@mrbluesky: Thanks for confirming what I reported. I have a "blank" user profile that I always test in, but it's good to know that others see the same symptoms.
Also, it works better for me in Linux where the search engine is populated correctly even though the search field is truncated.
Great user name @MrBlueSky! It's a name that's "Out Of The Blue"!
-
@ruario: Windows, back to 2.3.1420.4 everything is working and the bookmarks are back. updating to a later shnapshot the bookmarks are gone.
-
VB-44539 is still failing.
Perhaps it was never actually fixed? (I might be the only one who cares about it.)
The bug was reported on 1309.37 [Chromium 69]
The extensions described by the bug worked OK in 7 snapshots (1322.4 through 1350.4) [Chromium 70 based]
Failures appeared again after 1360.4 which moved to Chromium 71.
Failures continued for 16 snapshots from 1360.4 through 1440.3 [Chromium 72]One might be tempted to suggest the source of the bug is in Chromium. However, the extensions work in the latest version Chrome, 72.0.3626.81, but NOT in Vivaldi, also currently Chromium 72.

@lonm: It seems that I can open a private window immediately after starting a new session, but after using the (non-private) browser for a while I am unable to start a new private window.
I'm also frequently seeing the issue where I sometimes can't right click on tabs to move them to a new window.
As per VB-48546, windows that fail to load usually complain in the console about something to do with the user agent.
Additional notes: This is with confirm-to-close on or off, and occurs even with no browser mods / extensions (a fresh profile).
