(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests

Find in Page :
it's working fine but it needs some tweaks… it should work just like Opera 12.X used to : when it finds a word, all the page except the word should fade to black (well... not black... grey I mean...) to let us easily distinguish its place between other words.
-
Please add H264/MP4 video codec - support !
Vivaldi is a very interesting project, but without support for H264/MP4 (or better still: H265/HEVC), I can't use the browser at the moment… unfortunately -

Indeed. Opera 12 making the screen dim was great. Vivaldi showing the instances with the lines in the scroll area is nice. But we need the dimming of the page.

I will recommend Vivaldi to all my friends and family, …
I recommended Opera to family members. Then Opera changed. As soon as Vivaldi matures I'll get them to use it. I think word of mouth will do a lot to spread Vivaldi.

Please, add confirmation before delete anything (bookmarks, notes etc) or close browser and option for disable it behavior (checkbox "Don't ask me again" in confirmation dialog).

@RRR13:
Also for closing Vivaldi. I love that close confirmation dialog in Opera.
And +1 to this as well.

Please work on having a full sync in Vivaldi, including passwords and sessions. This was the most requested feature on Opera Desktop Blog comments.
Also, the tabs should touch the top of the screen. When clicking on them, its easier to just move the mouse to the top of the screen and click.

1. Open in Background tab
Add a 'Open in background tab' option in the context sensitive menu when you right mouse click on a link in page
2. Display folder when searching bookmarks
Many times when searching a bookmark i would like to know what folder it is stored in
3. Simple color themes
Choice of simple alternative color themes. The red on the current active tab now is too distracting -
- "Plugin on demand" - that was a really nice feature of the old Opera, all flash and active-x and so on frames only run after click No more freaking autoplaying videos! I know there are add-ons for this but they all tend to be glitchy and not working some times
+1
I totally agree and posted the something very similar, here.In 1996 "no images, no javascript, no plug-in" were vital options to limit bandwidth usage and make the pages more simple to read (and secure, also), today, 20 years later, we need to have the choice to filter what is used today.

will i be able to transfer all my pages if
i got opera and my speed dials(and maybe also boomarks,…) are not in sync with those on web.
(i want to transfer that which i have now offline...) -
Also, the tabs should touch the top of the screen. When clicking on them, its easier to just move the mouse to the top of the screen and click.
I mentioned this elsewhere and a CSS hack to achieve it. But now I see the tabs don't go right to the top because the tab stack indicators sit on the tab. But that should not prevent the programmers from making the tab selectable when the mouse is tight to the edge of the screen.

I tried searching for Bookmarks and very few hits was returned. I reckon my request is fair to advertise then.
I'd like to see a decent bookmarks manager that enables me to sort alphabetically, by date or by wildcard to filter by url or display name of the bookmarks. That way it would be easy to tidy up a large and messy collection of bookmarks

Ok, I haven't gone through the topic, but here are some of the things that are a must for me to switch from Opera:
1. Rss client (I assume this is coming with the implementation of Mail) and ability to correctly display sites that end in .xml
2. Wand-like password manager and the ability to fill the username/pass box. Also, and this may sound like a small thing, when the boxes are filled don't design it to automatically press the sign-in button (because captcha). I had some trouble with this in Opera when this was first implemented, until I figured out how to turn it off.
3. Syncing of preferences/settings and passwords. I know you are already working on syncing of bookmarks and some other stuff and that's great, but it would be nice if I could just install Vivaldi somewhere else, sing in my account and have it sync all my settings (I don't care that much about password syncing, I'd probably turn it off anyway).
4. The ability to choose which things are allowed to sync and which are not.
5. A lot more settings (for example the ability to set the default download folder).
6. A powerful download manager, which also opens as a seperate tab (or at least that I can toggle that). Also, when I right-click on an item that's downloading, I would like if that could open an options column.
7. Bookmarks tab (row).
8. Session saving.
9. Navigation between tabs with Numpad 1&2.
10. Closing tabs with Ctrl+Z.
EDIT: 11. "Open in background tab"And I (as RRR13) also like that there is a slight border between a tab and the top of the screen, it makes it easier to pick the browser and move it when you have the row filled with tabs.
Please don't be scared to implement as much settings/features similar to what the old Opera had. The look of Vivaldi is great and nobody will blame you if you do similar things "under the hood". The new Opera sux and the market of old Opera lovers is up for grabs. Please grab us

in the css vivaldi has 2 classes
When the app is windowed or fullscreen
Personally i have modified the css so the tabs go full-top on fullscreen, but that's just the way i like it
I think the best is how they are working right now that can be edited on css. Then you could build themes, just with css, js, etc.

+100 I'd like this too.

I see your point. I like them tight to the top so it's easy to click the the tab just by sliding the pointer along the edge of the screen. I run the browser maximized so never drag it. This setting should be optional. As it was in Opera.

I have tried on both platform, linux and Windows. A few remarks. I would like back about: config similar to former Opera.
In the search box is missing display search suggestions.
What is with the Java plugin? Will it work on linux platform?
It would be nice the automatic update of the browser on Windows platform. -
I really miss the mouse gestures from Opera 12.
The "new" Opera at least has the basic mouse gestures to create and close a page as well to either open link in new tab or in a new background tab which is a good start. I wish that Vivaldi will also support that as well as the mouse-button toggle gesture which I use to cycle between the different Tabs.
And also Ctrl + scroll wheel for zoom.
If those mouse gestures are supported it is not really necessary any more to use the keyboard for browsing internet.
They can then do away with the usual icons on the home page to create a new Tab ("+") and delete a Tab ("x") because the mouse gestures do the same functions and are much faster. This also gives more free space on the Tabs Bar to use for the created Tabs.

GOD NO! That is a feature that should be kept. Just because you don't use it, doesn't mean it should be removed from the browser.
I don't know if you have been reading the forums, but the key word around here is "option". As in "I would like to have the option to make the tabs touch the top of the screen".What you need is a setting: "Remove border when maximized".
It must be an optional setting because I do not maximize the browser on a large screen and I require the border to identify the edge of the application and maybe move it around on the screen with the mouse
