We're thinking about starting a @telegram group. Would you join it? 🤔
-
@becm I don't think so.
They shouldn't use any social/IM to promote Vivaldi, then. While it - and we - need it.
If an user don't like/trust <insert platform here> will just follow the updates here.
The trouble is probably a telegram group will need a moderation as it start to grow. -
I am an absolute enemy of smartphone groups, although Telegram is something more drinkable than WhatsApp.
I think that on the one hand each in its corresponding crazy forum here, can form a group, can also be formed in a social network, such as G + where Vivaldi publishes his blogs, but curiously has not put any collection or group, weighing that G + It is ideal for this. Another possibility would be a decentralized network, like Mastodon or better, Diaspora, sites where it is accessed from a PC, for security and because there are already too many smombies in the streets, causing accidents.. -
@catweazle Whatsapp, Telegram, kik and the likes, all have apps for desktop. In the case of Telegram there is an unofficial web port which you can apparently use in a webpanel.

Yes, but just like whatsapp you need an app on your mobile to have a client on your PC, that is, a phone number and I do not feel like it at all.
Well, everyone is free to sign up, but for me it is meaningless to have a social net on the mobile -
@mtaki14 I agree, Discord is a far better solution.
I guess you can call Discord the "modern IRC". It has channels, bots, user groups, moderation tools etc.
If they made their own Official Discord channel it would've been much more crowded and active than the unofficial one. -

@catweazle Yes, I know, but it's not official. It is not being promoted by Vivaldi anywhere.
There are no social icons/shortcuts anywhere on the https://vivaldi.com/ for that Discord server. -
@longlife I've put a link to it in the footer of the forum extension half a year ago
-
Great idea. I would like to join to Telegram channel because this is very useful communication tool
-
I wouldn't have problems with a Telegram group, I use the app and I think for a group better for managing than Whatsapp. And you can use on PC too without need syncing as Whatsapp need.

My favorite thing about Telegram is that it's not based on Electron, so it's like 10x smaller and much faster to load.
-
I think Telegram is limited to 500 users!
...

I don't think that using any app (e.g. telegram/whatsapp/signal/viber, etc.) that requires a phone number to register is a good thing.
App suggestion: RocketChat Server.Maybe we should explore other options and choose the best one.
A one that is open source and is oriented to privacy and respect for the users. I know that is tough to find such app. -

Certainly Telegram does not need an app for Smartphone, but the phone number and I do not feel like it.
Discord is enough for me, where there is already a group of Vivaldi. -

I think there are two models of groups, normal groups (max limit 200) and supergroups (up 100K, yes, an Old Maracanã of people)
