Am I missing something?

How do I create a signature? If it's obvious I missed it. Also is Vivaldi going to allow a one time opportunity to change our screen name? I'd like to change mine to my first name and the initial of my last name. This includes my V email address.
-
@para-noid I don't know about changing screen names. You will have to Send a message to Vivaldi Community Admins about that. They will respond to you on Monday.
No, it is not obvious how to create a signature, and the community admins are not promoting how it's done at present. That is intentional. It was revealed to moderators, and at least one community member figured it out, and leaked the info to others. So there are a few "unauthorized" signatures floating around...

It was 2 clicks for me?? Or did @Para-Noid meant something else?
-
@derday Last I knew, there was supposed to be no link or button that takes you to that page. It that your personal bookmark?
-
@ayespy The "hidden" settings page where you can set the sig is a standard nodeBB forum feature. I put a link to this site into the forum extension last year (and a way to toggle the visibility of signatures).
In my opinion signatures do no harm, but Vivaldi should provide a way for users to hide them. It becomes annoying when you read the same signature over and over, especially if it's taller than one line. Doesn't matter who uses it.
-
@luetage I'm merely respecting the community admins' stated preference not to promote the broad use of signatures among the general usership. They will expose the setting in user profiles when they are ready. I assume they have their reasons.
-
@ayespy In all fairness it might be good to delete the above post that shows how to do it. If the Admins don't want it known, it probably should be gagged as much as possible.
-
@joelyoung It might be. We have not been instructed to proactively muzzle it, nor authorized to delete posts that show user's discoveries. If the admins tell us backstage to clean up such posts, poof! they will be gone.
-
@joelyoung In all earnest - more than one description of how to do this have been on the forums for over a year (and read by many), as @luetage mentioned. That specific horse has long left the barn, with the doors standing wide open...

@morg42 The door is not locked, but it is closed. Para-noid is a frequent poster here, but clearly has not noticed any of those earlier posts. In my opinion, the current state of affairs is as it should be. If anyone really wants it, they can message the forum admins.
-
@pesala You obviously didn't get my argument. Furthermore, the door is not closed. Just checked.
-
-
@pesala yes, I'm using the extension. I didn't know, that it should be a mystery to make a signature. IMO it's nothing special to have one, so I posted the screenshot
-
@pesala You can't visit by clicking anything. You have to input the address by hand or bookmark it, if you don't have the extension installed. The edit entry/link/button brings you to your profile on Vivaldi community, not Vivaldi forum – which is actually rather confusing, because you would expect to stay on forum and then you suddenly navigate away with no warning.
-
Found it wide open. No lock. No special key needed. Thanks to @derDay Plus a forum search with different search parameters.

I noticed it when I fired-up my laptop. The "main" post was made after I went to bed. So I could not have noticed it until after I woke-up this morning. The "way" sticks out like a sore thumb. Somebody might want to delete that post. And delete that search result.
-
@para-noid This is what I suggested above, but it's been vetoed. I tried.
Plus, even though I now know the way, I will not use it, as the admins prefer we don't.
Just because we can, doesn't mean we should, -
What's wrong with you people? There is nothing to veto because there is no rule against having a signature. There is also no rule against spreading this information any way you please. I even have a blog post up with this information. The admins have decided not to implement a link to the nodeBB edit page at this point in time, for whatever reason. This is all we know. Beyond that everything is fair play. So just relax. If you want to show a signature, follow the link and input one. If not, no one is forcing you to have one.
-
I don't think there is anything wrong. People have different opinions.
This thread has run its course. Para-noid's question has been answered, so thread closed. No doubt the forum admins have discussed this before.
