Chromium 67 update – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.16.1221.3

@christoph142 How right you are! I completely missed the tooltip.
I can see why now: Doing the same in any other windows application will close the application on double click of its icon. However, it doesn't show the window menu (move, resize, etc.) on single-click, which is what led me to try to double click it.

Proprietary codecs not working in Linux (Fedora 28).
-
@gwen-dragon Those are built with a different chromium version and don't work.
https://repo.herecura.eu/herecura/x86_64/opera-beta-ffmpeg-codecs-67.0.3396.87-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
Anyone on Linux that one does.
-
Mac users: Just wondering how Copy/Paste keyboard shortcuts are working for you in this Snapshot build. Are they still breaking... or (hopefully) now NOT breaking?
-
Opening and closing tabs feel snappier on my toaster, very nice.

I have two Vivaldi windows running on two monitors. If I go to view my order history on Serif.com from the bookmark on my Bookmarks Bar, the login page opens on both Vivaldi windows at once. This does not happen if I use the above link in my forum post.
GestureLeft to go back in the current (active) Vivaldi window, works as expected, but nothing happens on the other window.
Edit: The same thing happens with any bookmarks bar bookmark.

Chromium 67 (3396) is from 1 month ago... Very old.
It's roughly a month out from 67's release and a month before 68's. I imagine the reason they didn't skate to where the puck is going to be (68) for the 1.16 beta is because it's a moving target. It would have been nice, since 1.16 is probably likely itself to come out around that time, if not a little later, but from what I gather, wrangling Chromium is a major pain point in Vivaldi's development.

@ruario Testing
Seems We can't drop .crx on extensions page anymore.
Unpacked works. It works for me, I just updated uBlock origin from its github repo
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases- extension page, saved my uBO settings, then removed the extension
- downloaded and unzipped the extension zip, renamed the extracted dir to uBlock0
- in extensions page, pack extension, created the crx and dragged it in the extension page. It's installed.
- restored my settings, and updated all the filters lists

page capture is buggy now for me (win7 32 bit)
the png is filled only with the visible screen on top, then the rest is just filled black.
Edit: here's an example
https://imgur.com/a/Fd3M2HF
The announced fix
Save Capture to File from Menu Always saves as PNG (VB-34841)
at least now uses the last format selected from the last capture taken from the statusbar icon. It's the only place to select this, should be better mirrored in the settings, under capture storage folder. -
@ian-coog: I can confirm the bug.
-
@ian-coog Bug is known and being worked on. "VB-41231
Chromium 67 version is only capturing the visible part of the page with screen cap." -

The only way I have found to the the dropdown menu from the V icon is using the (Windows) keyboard shortcut ALT + Spacebar.
I have reported this as a bug a looooooong time ago. -

When will we be able to install stable and snapshot on same PC, as we can with the Opera?
You can have as many stand alone installs as you like in addition to your stable version.
Personally I have had as many as three stand alone install plus my stable install.
Follow these simple instructions. -
I found out yesterday that Smart Youtube Manger made the right of the Youtube screen previews greyed out?
Thank you for your fine work and a fine product. -
VB-40151
doesn't seem to be an issue with this build. In the previous snapshot I had to select the side of the window to enact the hover event for my panel (the stable is sketchy too), but with this build it is working with mouse over as it should. Thanks! -

@cqoicebordel Yeah, it's a problem with the chromium update, I'm aware. The current implementation is a workaround, but also buggy, as described below. Imo this needs a fix for stable, because the extension toggle loses its main functionality (toggling extensions) under certain circumstances. Chromium won't fix this for Vivaldi I'm afraid.
Yeah, the old extension page had an option to
Show button
if you wanted to have it back on the address bar, the new one (which I like) doesn't.Like you, I am using a extension toggle mod, so what is appearing for me now is 2 toggle buttons. I actually like the drop down menu. What I would like to see is Vivaldi just implement their own toggle and have the Chrome one be a child to that so that it would be inside the (Vivaldi) extension container
-
@gwen-dragon
You mean with this snapshot, right? Because it was completely broken in the previous one
-
So far, so good.
How's the fix for the 'not always starting maximized' bug going ? (Don't know the internal code, sry) Will the chromium 67 help in any way ? (so far, this bug doesn't happen on my snapshot version, only in stable) -
@sjudenim You have two options. Show all extension buttons and do nothing, or show all extension buttons and hide the ones you don't want with the mod by ID.
