Security updates and IME fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.16.1206.3

No surprise that the Alt key does not work
It is a surprise instead, Alt-letter shortcuts worked until this update, when the option was unchecked; what was blocked was just the menu appearing when alt alone was pushed (voluntarily or by lack of coordination). Anyway, I'll send a report now.

I don't know what the bug about "enabling UI after exiting video fullscreen" was about. But on my snapshot, whenever I toggle the panel in fullscreen, after leaving fullscreen, instead of the panel a grey area is being shown.
Have panel visible, go into a fullscreen video, hide the panel, show the panel with shortcut, exit fullscreen and Vivaldi has this problem.
-
@jacekn Huh... same with chain-closing all of the windows when closing one of them...
Both are not a big problems, but reeeeeeally annoying... -
@rotfl Yep, this "close 1 window close all" is an absolute showstopper for me. The bug made it through the last official release, but I really hope it will be solved before the next one.

what does IME stand, for?

What does IME stand for?
Add a custom search engine for Acronymn Finder or a similar websiite.
-
@newscpq It stands for "Input Method Editor."
-
@lakeinholland Maybe a workaround. In the Downloads Settings you can check "Open Download Panel Automatically". So when you launch a download the download panel opens and you can see the download progress and its end. F4 to close the panel.
-
@lakeinholland If you disable all of the Download checkboxes in Settings, on clicking a download link you will be offered a dialogue to Save, Save As... Open, or Cancel the download.
If you select Open, as soon as the download is complete, the downloaded file will open.
- If it's an installer it will launch
- If it's an archive it will open in your default Zip file viewer, ready to extract the contents
- If it's a PDF file it will open in Vivaldi, or your default PDF viewer.
Of course, if you just want to save it, or save it to a particular folder, then just choose Save, or Save As.. — whichever is appropriate for the current download.

What happened to the "Sync" feature?? I was using it extensively, now that it's gone my Bookmarks are all screwed up beyond recognition!!!
-
@salvorin-fex It's still there and working. Have you disabled it?
See vivaldi://experiments
-
@pesala To have the download dialog box, just uncheck "Always Save Files to Default Download Location" in download settings. Isn't it?
-
@philippeoffner Right, but then you won't need to open the Download Panel, nor will you need to be notified that the download is complete.
-
@pesala: Well, I never turned it OFF. Did an update do that? If so that's kinda lame!
-
@salvorin-fex Updates do not touch that setting as a rule. Hard to say how it might have got switched.
-
@ayespy: Well, I never even knew about that page until 12 mins ago. I just saw that it was missing form the "Settings" page and I couldn't find it anywhere.
-
@salvorin-fex Did you change from a Snapshot version to a Stable version?
Sync is available in Snapshots but not in Stable. -
@salvorin-fex It was never in the settings page. It has only and always been on the experiments page. Somehow, if you were using it, you turned it on.
Edit: Of course turning it on in vivaldi://experiments causes it to show up in settings.

Sync in last Snapshot is still cloning my notes
Huh... I have no idea why, but it happens only inside some of the folders¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not to mention that it's really complicated to permanently delete some notes because after syncing 5 Vivaldi instances they are back from the void...
It usually happens with the long ones...
-
@rotfl If you edit your notes when not logged in to sync you may get duplicates.
