Facebook is no longer a default
-
Yay that was a great decision.

Great decision...
-
Well done. I would include FB thumbnail in the post title.
-
Great decision and good to hear!
Vivaldi users should fully support this move. -
I didn't even know facebook was in there as default. I believe it didn't show up when I recently tried a clean profile, was it only available for specific countries/regions?
-
A most excellent decision. It was one of, if not THE, first thing(s) I removed from the default install. FB's idea of privacy has long been "You don't have any." as could be seen by how the defaults were set and how user settings tended to get reverted to such unless and until they were caught at it. Good riddance!
-
I support this decision.
-
All should be concerned about the invasion of privacy and that peoples information are to be bought and sold as public data for corporations to trade as they feel to do so.
-
This excellent decision made it into reportage in Bleeping Computer: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/software/vivaldi-removing-facebook-as-a-default-link-in-browsers-speed-dial/
News of V continues to spread - yay.
-
If you're not getting paid by fb for that then sure good decision.
If you were, honestly wouldn't care. I use fb only cause other people i know use it.
Adblock, umatrix etc. Not really a profitable target for fb ;P Also was aware of it being spyware from moment I signed up.Still, like I said if you're not getting paid and there's nothing to lose then glad its removed, less support it gets more likely people will switch.

@neocazen: I think you're referring to the sidebar. By default, it contains a button each for your Bookmarks, Downloads, Notes, History, and Window(s), as well as a button to add Web Panels. If you don't like it, why don't you disable it? (Click the "Hide Panel" button on the bottom bar.)
-
@luisanton Not the side, but the one that is just above Speed ββDial
-
@neocazen Putting it on the side would actually take more space. You can hide it using some custom CSS.
.thumbnail-image {box-shadow: none !important;}
.startpage-navigation {
display: none !important;}Add that code to common.css. You need to do it on each upgrade.

@an_dz said in Facebook is no longer a default:
@christoph142: Facebook started as a Speed Dial the team decided was a convenience to most users, later Facebook became a partner.
Edit: At least that's what it seems seeing the url of the bookmark used to link directly and then it started to go through vivaldi.com/bk/
Let me clarify here. In this context it's irrelevant for us what kind of relationship was in place with Facebook or even if one was at all. There was a Facebook speed dial that we under the circumstances decided to remove. That's all there's to it.
-
@christian: Right on topic. No matter what there was the right decision was made now.

Watching Zuckerberg live being grilled. Feels even more right now
-
@pesala Ok.
I mean I find this bar unnecessary since Speed ββdial could have an icon in the sidebar already existing as the history already owns leading to the extinction of that giant top bar in Speed dial -
@christian A great question from the senator to start off with:
Mr Zuckerberg , would you be comfortable sharing with us the name of the hotel you stayed in last night? If you have messaged anyone this week would you share with us the names of the people you've messaged?
-
Jon, for the other default speed dial bookmarks that you have in place (Such as eBay Australia) does Vivaldi receive revenue every time I visit eBay Australia via my bookmarked link of //vivaldi/bk/ebay-en-au
