Blog Moderation

Why are comments on the blogs held in limbo indefinitely pending moderation? I posted a comment 3 days ago that is still "awaiting moderation".
-
@llewellen The individual blog owner has to approve a post. Which blog did you comment on?
-
@llewellen Simply because the blogs are being spammed with all kinds of advertisement comments linking to suspicious sites. The blog author can decide to approve all comments automatically, but the default is waiting for approval. It makes sense. Besides, users can gain trust on a blog and then their comments are automatically approved when a certain threshold is reached, but this is another setting and it's probably rare any one commenter is that active on a single blog.
-
I just checked my blog. Currently there are about 35 comments awaiting moderation, all of them are spam, about half of them viagra advertisement. Go figure
-
@luetage That doesn't respond to my question. If the comments are not going to be moderated in a timely manner, why allow comments at all? The fact that there are tons of spam comments being posted doesn't alter the fact that legitimate comments are being left hanging in limbo.

@Ayespy already answered to your question, the reason is just blog owner's laziness; instead, you haven't answered to his question: Who's blog you're writing to?
-
Hate to say it but same issue with me on the Vivaldi Team blog...
-
@greybeard That's not right. Do you have 3rd party cookies blocked?
-
@ayespy
Yes,Third Party cookies are blocked. However I do not see any blocked in the Site Settings.
-
@greybeard Just try unblocking them, sign in to the blog, and see what happens.
-
@ayespy
Same thing... there is no change.
I tried this as a solution to a "Session Missmatch" issue I get. It wants me to log in every time I change from Forum to Community. Did not work for that either. -
@greybeard Dang. I don't understand that. The only time I got a session mismatch was when I blocked 3rd party cookies globally. When I turned that block off, all was well and has been ever since.

I have been using Vivaldi Snapshots.
Currently using:
Vivaldi 1.15.1137.3 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision 939e7d8471a5c19db1d41487e7ef96fb073e7caf-
OS WindowsI just use the update when I get a notice there is an update.
Should I use the stable version, or perhaps re-download and re-install or report as a bug?
-
@greybeard Should make absolutely no difference. All act the same as to being/staying logged in to Vivaldi sites, and if you are logged in, you are able to comment. That is all.
-
@ayespy
I think I may have it figured it out... had to allow Pop-Ups and Background Sync (I think). -
@greybeard Background sync can cause problems. Perhaps it's the popups.

In what way? should I change it again?
-
@greybeard If you have it enabled to continue running in the background when closed, it can cause you to lose your session tabs (if you have it set to open with last session) and can apparently in some cases interfere with updating.
