Scheduled system downtime (21 March 2018), and updating mailbox settings
-
Hello,
Vivaldi’s email service is growing and we are constantly working to bring you a better experience.
Scheduled downtime
We’d like to let you know that we’ve scheduled a Vivaldi Mail server update between 21:00 UTC on 21 March and 02:00 UTC on 22nd March. During this time you may experience some downtime.
Updating mailbox settings
If you access your mail from a browser, e.g. mail.vivaldi.net, after the update everything will continue to run as normal.
If you are logging in on webmail.vivaldi.net, please read the following message and keep in mind that webmail.vivaldi.net will be decommissioned on 31st of March: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/25104/updating-of-webmail-vivaldi-net.
If you've set up your Vivaldi mailbox in an email client, after the update you’ll need to update your Outgoing Server Settings as follows:

Just to clarify: Is this downtime only for the reading part of emails via the various frontends? If someone sends me an email during this period, will it be lost, or will I just not be able to read it until the upgrades are complete?
-
Thank you for the scheduled details.

M3 included?

-
@jane-n Is it officially called M3 now?
-
@luetage It's just a working title that some people like to use.
-
im missing a lot of emails .. like for the last 14 days send and received ... i wonder if they will come back soon
-
@cardinality same here... all e-mails that have been sent, received or archived after march 8 are missing
-
@jane-n just curious, why is SMTP SSL/TLS support being dropped with this change?
-
Any e-mails sent to my vivaldi.net account are not delivered after yesterday's downtime. Senders receive the error message "550: 5.1.1 ***@vivaldi.net: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table".
I have created a forum thread for further investigation: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/26080/user-unknown-in-virtual-mailbox-table-when-trying-to-send-a-message-to-my-vivaldi-net-address

Yep, mails after 8.3. are gone. Actual messages arrive normally (with new server settings).
-
Fetching mail works OK, but I get an error that the smtp server is not setup correctly when trying to send email from Opera 12.18. What am I doing wrong?
-
Thank you all for reporting these issues. We are working on this and hope to fix all issues as soon as possible.
-
@jane-n Please do. In the last few days I've been conversing with a potential new employer. Losing access to those emails is amazingly poor.
-
@pesala I also got an error when trying to send emails with Opera, I had to re-enter the password in the account properties to fix that.
-
@rexfahrer That worked for me too.
-
I don't know if this will stop soon, but after 45' of testing i've found these settings [a mix of the old & new] are now successfully sending emails to & from my V account with Thunderbird:

Today (22/03/2018) I find that all my email later than 08/03/2018 had disappeared, after the scheduled downtime. Can they be recovered/returned? Thanks
-
That's all my email back now up to the present. Thank you.

All my income & concept e-mails have disappeared from my mailbox approximately from 18. 3. 2018 (Sunday, not 8th of March as by others mentioned above).
On Sunday I've read a few messages but now when I wanted to reply or continue in my concept, all is missing now.
