is there a way to control spam in webmail, there is a lot in my mailbox.
since day one a lot of spam, but as im using more webmail account starting to be a lot more annoying, do you have also lots of spam?
-
I am having troubles with the vivaldi calendar. I set a event but now I can't delete it (neither update information) and I am receiving a mail remainder every 5 minutes. When I try to delete it a error message appears in the top saying "Unable to update event."
-
@sergi0 Please feel free to file a bug report. Calendar is under daily active development right now, and any feed back the team gets will help to steer things in the right direction.

I am trying to open a second account at webmail.vivaldi.net. There is no rule against this, is there?
An attempt using the same password-recovery email as this account was rejected, so I tried a different one. I get green checkmarks next to the username and email, and successfully fill in the rest of the fields. When I click Register I get the message
"Failed to register the user. 17002 Credential not valid. Credential must be non null for the user: [my new user name]"Can someone advise how to proceed? I have tried this at webmail.vivaldi.net and vivaldi.net. mail.vivaldi.net has no "register" button.
-
@wognath Please Send a message to Vivaldi. I think this may be related to a bug on the server, which is being worked on.

Forget it. Just took quite a while to pop up...

I like the last update. More customizable. But still, I can't find some must-have features:
-
Mail filters.
The way how proper Filters feature should work, I've described here. I think, it's just the first thing that comes into mind when you look at Filters feature, don't know why so many mail services providing Filters feature doesn't provide it in the way it's really useful. But, since Vivaldi does what user really needs instead of trying to cheat him with pseudo user-friendly features... -
Keyboard.
First, I didn't easily realize I can select messages withCtrl + Click
, so there is actual need in hotkeys list somewhere. Second, keyboard guys would love you indefinitely if you allow them to assign their own hotkeys for any action. -
Custom marks
for mail with custom actions. Create mark, assign one action or a chain of actions and use it for automating your activity. -
Spam lists:
- Global List
The one Vivaldi Webmail and other services provide by default. For user to see how it works. - Maybe-Spam Algorithm
The one Vivaldi Webmail provides by default - without user filters. For example, some algorithms check for agressive punctuation, manipulative verbs, recipients count and so on. For the same reason - it should be predictable for user. - Local Lists
User's black/white lists with highest priority. (If user wants to "whitelist" some spam from Global List, it's his right to decide his intentions and manage his security, right?)
-
Data for server connection from mail client
in the service, not in the forum. (I don't really understand what it is, but it's called IMAP/POP3. I didn't find it in the service and I wanted to find mail connection data in the mail service and not in some other place, as any other user would.) -
Ability to rename, move, nest standard folders
as any custom folder. If real names are so important for standard folders, why I can't change "fake" names you use for these folders anyway, then? Why I can't reorder and organize their nesting structure as I like, since it's my folders? -
Interface customization.
Ability to reorder toolbar buttons, add custom buttons with standard actions (actions from dropdowns - like "Mark Read" - included), delete dropdowns for some buttons (make them simple buttons) and create custom dropdowns for any button, create buttons for custom marks from3
rd request. -
At least one completely
dark theme
, please -
"Messages management isn't clear" problem is fixed now, but visually user can't differ chosen letters from opened, so it's still difficult to manage mail.
-
"Later" button.
A short time ago "Archive" button didn't exist and now it's in most popular mail services. "Later" button will be useful, too.

@gwen-dragon, sorry, but I can't create a topic there.
... And I didn't get why I need check out RoundCube page for this, either. If it was a polite way to say "It's all RoundCube", it didn't get to me, because one of the features of RoundCube is custom plugins API with plugins repository and ability to write a plugin if you didn't find what you need there. As a simple user I don't know what RoundCube's API can or can't do, but I can explain what the Webmail lacks to attract me.
... And, if you don't mind, I'd like to know, why the "Forum Feature Request", not "Webmail". There is no "feature request" topic in "Webmail" forum, so users go into the "Forum Feedback" and request Webmail features there? I'm confused.
-
@maniastern What Gwen is saying is that the mail interface that Vivaldi uses is created by a third party called RoundCube and perhaps it would be easier to ask them to implement some of the new features you request because their focus is on this UI while Vivaldi does not have developers focused on creating a webmail interface.
The second part of the message was about you request the team to update their RoundCube version after RoundCube adds the features you requested.
-
@an_dz, still don't understand. You're saying, Vivaldi Team doesn't work on Vivaldi Webmail at all and uses untouched third party or they just use RoundCube as a base for their unique mail service? Because, if it's the first case, I don't understand why Vivaldi creates another one useless mail service which doesn't differ from many others under RoundCube. I mean, if it will be used for browser's built-in Mail Panel - "with power of user in mind" and so on - what's the point of this if it will be the same mailbox as Gmail and others? And if it's the second case, one of the RoundCube features is API for custom plugins, that can be used to implement features I've described.
-
@gwen-dragon, sorry, but... I really don't understand.
-
There is Roundcube. It provides API for custom plugins as one of the features you've recommended to check out.
-
There are custom plugins for Roundcube, that can improve user experience.
-
What's the problem for Vivaldi to use one of the recommended features of Roundcube to improve user experience? How is it related to the fact Vivaldi had two different Webmail programs? There is one now and it lacks usability.
I just can't get what's wrong with my requests. Couldn't they be implemented with plugins API (at least, some of them)?
-
-
@maniastern You should wait for Vivaldi to properly release this first, this isn't official yet – the other site, https://webmail.vivaldi.net/ is still running and you can use it in the meantime. When they close it it's time to evaluate.
-
@maniastern Vivaldi have been working hard for three years to develop their own built-in email client. They don't have any resources to devote to a webmail service, which is no more than a stop-gap measure while we wait for the email client.
When that is released to the public, we will be able to manage our mail in a web panel that was designed for that purpose.
-
@pesala, Oh, now I got it, thank you)

As @Pesala has already explained Vivaldi is not actively working on a web interface, instead they are working on a mail client integrated on the browser, which you'll be able to connect with any mail account you have. The web client is a convenience so you can access your emails on any browser.
And if it's the second case, one of the RoundCube features is API for custom plugins, that can be used to implement features I've described.
You can, obviously, request for new features to be added, jut recently the team installed calendar and encrypted email plugins. But if you find a bug or wish something that is more structural to the core it would be easier to request directly to Roundcube. Still, do ask for new features and the team will look into adding them.
I mean, if it will be used for browser's built-in Mail Panel - "with power of user in mind" and so on - what's the point of this if it will be the same mailbox as Gmail and others?
The point is that your Vivaldi mail account is in server in Iceland, by a company that does not spy on your emails and don't need to disclose anything to the US government. Gmail reads all your emails to build a profile of you.
-
@an_dz, thank you for answer) I didn't know the web service is a temporary measure, I thought, the same interface and features will be built in Vivaldi, with the web interface as an alternative. So, the best solution for me is to wait for the Mail Client and try it, indeed.
As for the anonymity, it's cool, really, but, while I searched for a comfortable service/client, I've found a few products focused on anonymity and dropped them in favor of more functional services that, I know, spy on their users. I don't actually see any reason for using a service or a client with focus on privacy if it provides the same uncomfortable pack of features, because if I will always be a guest in my own mailbox, I'll better use temp mail for registration and messengers for something else - at least, I'm in control there.
-
@maniastern I'm sure the Vivaldi team would like to offer a great web interface too, but since the team is small they can't focus on it. You can create a new thread here to try and push for more features on the web interface, I know they'll try to add it.
If Vivaldi gets more browser users they can grow and offer more.
