Ask me anything: Jon von Tetzchner speaks to the community
-
1! xD [for the first time]
@Ayespy Great job! -
@rotfl: Too kind...
-
A big Thank You! to Jon von Tetzchner for this AMA.
And a bigger Thank You! forthat he's doing what he's doing! -
Nice! Thanks for asking the less technical questions too about Tesla and Ice-cream.
-
-
@julioc1984 Ask it again here. Let's see if we can get it answered!!
-
Well, lol.
-
I think no one asked about the Vivaldi Blogging platform. Nothing seems to have happened with that since it was launched.
I have a blog, but there is no easy access to it from the forums.
None of the content shows up in Google search results.
-
@ayespy I asked 3 weeks ago, if he would try to cross the Atlantic swimming again, just like when he was working in the ancient Opera.
In 2005 the current CEO of Vivaldi tried to cross swimming the Atlantic for a promise (1 million downloads in 4 days of the other browser).
I think it would be a good idea doing something similar in order to promote Vivaldi in the medias.
But, yes, maybe it was a silly question. I don't know...
-
@julioc1984 Yeah. I don't think future stunts, if any, are being thought of at this time. And surely you realize he didn't actually try to swim the Atlantic.

You can make 5 million users easily. You just need to use words @cryptocurrency and @blockchain in your product.
There is a problem with ALL browsers on trading cryptocurrencies. I do not know where it comes from, but you should always refresh the page. Moreover, the page is getting slower because some background process starts to do something unnecessary. You could make something like @best-trading-browser.
Just marketing, nothing personal
Also you can store your notes in blockchain. You will be @the-first-browser-to-use-blockchain.
And, of course, you should implement session manager and master password (session dependent). It is very important for a trader.
These features SOUND like top professional stuff and will multiply your audience by two every day
PS: Personal data and settings backups through menu is also a powerful and needed feature.

Great questions & answers! Ayespy did a fantastic job! It's so refreshing (and kinda shocking) to see a leader of a company be so open and willing to actually answer tough questions from the community! Thanks & keep up the good work!
-
@pesala: And it ended up being the most interesting answers.
-
@an_dz Yes. I asked about the Tesla because I see Jon and Elon Musk as being similar in their outlook on life — idealists who are more interested in developing something cool and innovative rather than just being motivated by making money.
Ice-cream is definitely cool; and so are Iceland and Norway.
-
@dankcat: Thanks for your kind words. We'll do more of this in the future. It's a good way for Jon to get to talk to our fantastic community!
-
@pesala: That's a very fair question. We had to take a pause for a bit but we are back on this again and hopefully, you'll see results soon.
-
Very good stuff. Thanks for doing it, it's interesting to get insider insights like this.
-
@lonm I was pleased they asked me to do it, and happy to help. It doesn't hurt that Jon is very easy to talk to. He was quite generous with his time, and I got very comfortable with him in several hours of conversations over the prior two and a half days. That made the recorded interview a breeze.

@julioc1984: I went swimming indeed and it was cold, but also a lot of fun, until I had to end the swim due to an issue described in the original story.
Repeating the swim is unlikely. That being said, we try to be creative and have fun in out approach and we will continue to do so.
Thanks for the suggestion and make sure to share Vivaldi with all your friends!
