Window panel and file download improvements – Vivaldi Browser Snapshot 1.13.997.3
-
@pesala: I don't want the last session to open automatically. I prefer the browser to open with just the speed dial, and I click whatever I want to open.
Editing the shortcut was pretty easy, and I get to keep using the browser the same way I was before, so it's not a big deal.
-
The downloads panel is getting more useful too.
-
What happened to right click menu? I cannot select a word and select "search with" its gone!
-
Could you expand the download warning feature to a general warning on exit?
-
YEAH! NEW SNAPSHOT! FINALLY!
Gee, guys, you know I'm addicted to snapshots. If you stop giving me my weekly dose, I'll have abstinence crisis. XDI hear your warning. I understand your warning. I don't care about your warning!
I've already downloaded and am currently testing!I really love how you guys implemented those changes to downloads. That's going to make the UI much more appealing and less complicated for me!
I hope this delay caused by Chromium changes has been dealt with, because I don't know if I'll be able to survive one more month of not having updates. I need professional help.

Not entirely, but closer to the end than to the beginning. If it were wholly dealt with, you would not see the "known issues" and the automatic update would have been enabled.

@cqoicebordel: Can you pls clarify this change? Are you saying that Chromium 62, & hence now this new V-SS, have Flash fully disabled NOW, ie, no user-intervention can re-activate it? If so, that would explain why none of my fav sites that use Flash will now work in the new SS. If this is the new normal, i will have to use another browser to access those sites... PITA. Yes, yes, i share everyone else's dislike of Flash, & also want to be rid of it, BUT until some of the sites i rely on every day, get the message, users like me who can't/won't simply abandon those sites [that would be cutting off my nose to spite my face] would simply have to use another browser.
-
@rexfahrer: I confirm. My default UI = 85%, which still works. However PW is 100%, = ugh!
Worse though: closing the PW also closed my main V window... helluva shock!EDIT:
Strewth Steffie, can you not read & absorb?Known issues Crashes associated with the private window
-
Looks like the bug on Mac where viewing the Search settings only displayed the colored circle next to the search provider has been addressed. In the previous snapshot the icons for set default / edit / delete next to a search engine were missing and all three circles were indistinguishable in their actions.
-
Congrats to V-Devs for surviving the major rewrite.
My initial SS launch momentarily shocked me, as it had forgotten my Use Native Window setting... it's so very long since i last saw Vivaldi "undressed" that it momentarily floored me, til i realised what had happened.
I can confirm that the Known Issue of "Crashes associated with the private window" also applies to the Linux rpm version, sadly. Closing Private Window closes all V windows... gasp.
Wrt the "new" Windows Panel... it's not new for me, given i've been using it since it first appeared in Experiments. Sadly, now as then, Pinned-Stacks are still not seen in the WP; for me this reduces the WP benefit by >50%. Pls Devs, allow the WP to see & work with ALL tabs, irrespective of their disposition.

@saudiqbal I noticed that once, but now it's working normally. If you can figure out a reliable recipe submit a Bug Report
-
@cqoicebordel: Add this to request list please

with this and the previous build mouse gestures do not work
-
@kocho: pfff, I meant in pop-up windows

mouse gestures never worked with popup windows, not only in these 2 Snapshots

@ian-coog Try one like this, with lots of comments. Ctrl + Scrollwheel to zoom in/out or mouse gesture to scroll down/up.
no idea what's wrong for you, everything works for me on that youtube page, mouse gestures, ctrl-scrollwheel zooms in and out, and "search with" works

@neltherion Tab stacks are shown in the window panel, and can be ungrouped. Tabs selected in the panel can be stacked. Pinned tabs are shown as a single entry. There's not yet a menu option to group tabs by URL. One must do that from the Tab Bar.
The "Pinned tabs" shown here are actually a folder. So all the pinned tabs will be available inside. The folder is kept when there are no pinned tabs so that you can drag-to-pin tabs onto it.

Expand all folders does not show the tabs included in the Tab Stack. The "folder" cannot be renamed either. Some work is needed to make this more useful. My "Pinned Tabs" folder is actually a tab-stack of pinned tabs.
-
@pesala: Thanks! It'd be great if we could group and ungroup tabs by click of a button in this panel... This would give tremendous control over a collection of more than 50 tabs... especially in those situations when you have so much tabs you don't even know how to get to those tabs for that specific URL...
-
@ugly: Today this happened to me, too. I opened one tab in the background and closed the current one so it normally should switch to the one opened in background and got the grey Vivaldi logo.
And I think I can reproduce it reliably: You have to close the active tab while the other one is still not loading but is waiting for a response of the website. So a slow internet connection might be useful to reproduce thisWindows 7 64-bit with Vivaldi 64-bit
edit: I reported this, VB-34035.
