The official translation/localization thread.
-
Hi, This will be the official translation/localization thread for Vivaldi.net. We know that many of you want your language supported and we are working on getting as many as possible completed as soon as possible. However, we are not a large team and need your help translating the site. If you are able to translate from English to your language please use this thread from now on. For those who volunteer we will provide the material that needs to be translated. If you have further questions that wouldn't fit the thread feel free to PM me. Thank you so much for being part of our community!

For Turkish I am here. If you can able to do it on any online webservice, would be nice/easy.

Ping from Germany
Frontpage: done …
... and while waiting for other stuff I'll translate the FAQ and migration texts and link them in the German sub-forum.
About some already localized strings:
In the link list at the right side:
EN:
Preferences
[ul]- Account settings
- Privacy Settings
- Notification Settings
[/ul]
Is the word "settings" really needed?
DE (as it is now)
Einstellungen
[ul]- Account-Einstellungen
- Privatsphäre-Einstellungen
- Benachrichtigungs-
Einstellungen
[/ul]
Simpler and better:
Einstellungen
[ul]- Account
- Privatsphäre
- Benachrichtigungen
[/ul]
No need to write "Einstellungen" every time, that feels really awkward. Apart from causing an ugly line break, the "headline" should suffice to make abundantly clear that you can find the settings below.
Yes, I know that those strings came with the original Joomla/ Kunena localization, but it would be nice if you could put it on the (low priority) to-do list and change it when you can find some time to fix it between the more important tasks

Hi
How can I made Polski forum?
On MO I'm JaDo member since 2004Welcome, JaDo2.
I've made Polski forum. It's under the Language forum.
Enjoy! -
The german frontpage has some mistakes.
Some of them really should not be there any more because I already sent the corrected version some days ago …
Blog:
According to the Duden "Blog" can be neutrum or masculinum, depending on which part or the republic you come from. Wikipedia prefers "das" too and from the stem it would be "das" because neither Web nor Log are masculinum in both languages :pE-Mail:
The translation nearer to the original would have been:
"Erleben Sie werbefreie E-Mails" <-- NOOOOO!The "Dienst" translation is better, but I would change a bit more to:
"Nutzen Sie unseren werbefreien E-Mail-Dienst"
because we don't use "some" ad-free E-Mail service but a quite specific one.Chat:
"Nutzen Sie "Meine Unterhaltungen", um mit Ihren Freunden zu chatten"Forum:
The text for the forums was different indeed - but there seems to be a length constraint so the rest was simply cut off. Longer sentences are not possible
My suggested change was
"Diskutieren Sie mt anderen Personen"
I would suggest changing it to:
"Diskutieren Sie mit Ihren Freunden"
and we could discuss in the German subforum if a neutral "Personen" or "Leute" would be better suited instead of "Freunde"
(for some people the word "Freunde (friends)" is still something special, despite facebook)I am happy to discuss the issues with you here:

I would gladly translate Vivaldi into Portuguese.

I guess you didn't get my PM? I will send it again now. Thank you for offering to translate!

Where can I translate into Norwegian?

Hi,
Important information for those of you who have been working on, or would want to work on having their language supported on Vivaldi.net:
[ul]
-
Some of the building blocks of Vivaldi.net needs to be translated. They are EasySocial, EasyBlog and Kunena Forums. There are projects available for many languages hosted by Transifex. You can simply sign up, become part of the translation team, and help getting your language completed for these modules. For us to be able to support a language those three modules need to be available in your language.
-
Links to the projects:
https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/easysocial/
https://opentranslators.transifex.com/projects/p/easyblog/
https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/Kunena/- We can not promise support for any language even if all the modules are made available, so either post here or contact me in PM before you start working on any of them.

Salut Christian,
[…]You can simply sign up, become part of the translation team,[…]
It's not so simple to have to contribute to three different projects without knowing them all or even what parts/modules of them are really used or will be used on Vivaldi.net…
I'll try to understand the new Transifex system (logged as "ra_mon there), perhaps not so different than the old MyOpera transifex...
At this time and IMHO, FR translation for Vivaldi.net homepage is still weird... so i prefer the english version

The three modules used in Vivaldi.net are: EasySocial, EasyBlog and Kunena. I do provide that information to the ones who volunteers to help with translations and in the post you quote of course Feel free to ask me further questions in PM if you have them!
As for French I can not comment much since I unfortunately do not know the language. I'm sure we'll get it improved over time though and I really appreciate that you point out shortcomings in translations we are not able to quality proof ourselves.

Hi ppls!
We really need help with two languages right now: Norwegian and Icelandic. If anyone could spare some time helping with these two it would be great! Post here or PM me.
Thanks!

I translated My Opera in italian but will not translate here until i will find a good reason to support vivaldi.net.
Good work to all of you.
Ciao, Igor
