Stabilizing for 1.10 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.10.867.27
-
@pettern: I created the new issue with title "Re-submit form on CTRL+R and F5". However no issue number was displayed after reporting.
-
Issue has a number VB-29242
-
@jacekn: Oh sure. Just got a bit lazy
First things first, I haven't checked the forums in a long time so I'm not sure these were already reported or if I'm just missing a setting or something that I just need to toggle.- [Quick Commands] Usually when I want to search for something fast, I use QC. On stable the selected/highlighted part is the search engine so I just need to press enter after typing. Now it defaults to the bookmarks. So there's an extra step on press the up arrow key and then press enter
- [Passwords] On Mac it only shows "No saved passwords found" in settings even though I already saved a ton. Works fine on my Windows PC.
- [WebRTC] I first unchecked this setting. Now it won't let me re-enable it. This is on Windows. On my Mac, the default setting is checked but it won't let me disable it (haven't submitted this as a bug since it might be related to my Windows one).
-
@xypher: To add, 1 and 3 are tested on the latest Windows snapshot (not this one). 2 on Mac stable.
-
@xypher: Re: #3 - If you have an extension that overrides the browser's WebRTC IP Handling Policy (like uBlock Origin or WebRTC Network Limiter) the Vivaldi WebRTC setting will appear to be "locked". If you temporarily disable the extension in question, you will then be able to change Vivaldi's setting.
-
@xypher: As for 1. That was an intentional change, while there is still some discussions going on around what should be the default, we have added the ability to not show bookmarks/page-actions/history, so if you only use quick command for quick searches, disabling those three, only the tab search takes priority over search. If you still want those, you can start adding the search engine keyword before your search, example: g Bread
-
@xypher: As for 3. I haven't been able to reproduce, but I do think I recall a report on this, that stated Extensions can take over this setting, i'd recommend disabling your extensions and seeing if the checkbox gets enabled again Please report back if it works so I know!
-
I know from prior experience that you're not looking for regressions that happened before 1.10, let alone one that's been happening since 1.8, but I thought I'd mention it anyway one last time:

@xyzzy: Thanks. I'll try that.
-
@aronand: I do also use the bookmarks, etc. on QC as well. But honestly I prefer the old behavior. It makes more sense to quickly type-in what you want then just press enter. For bookmarks, I think it's kinda "normal" to "look" for the bookmark you want first. And you already have Nicknames for that. I understand you can just add the keyword first but again it involves extra steps and I don't really want that. Actually while we're in the topic, the default Google search won't work on QC unless you type-in the keyword first. I actually submitted that bug almost a year ago now.
At least give users the option to set the default when using QC.
-
IDM Integration Module not working properly. You have to reinstall extension everytime you wanna use it.
-
@xyzzy: Yep disabling my privacy extensions worked. Thanks!
-
@aronand: You're right. The culprit was Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, and TunnelBear. Tried them individually and they do lock the setting. Thanks!
-
whats the deal with the update notification (introduced 2-4 snapshots ago). Vivaldi isn't open but I get the notification message near my system clock. I din't find any services or autorun entry so where does this notification come from? I'm a little bit confused (although I've of course set the notification on in settings, but I thought it's the "normal" update window which appears if you click check for updates)
-
@rseiler: YES, this has been nagging me for several months, but I've learned to just live with it as best I can. In my case, it's not a showstopper, but something that desperately needs to be addressed nonetheless!
-
Just a cosmetic suggestion: please change that trashcan icon (right, above) for the tabs that we have closed and may wish to reopen. It's not just ugly, but also confusing, intuitively one thinks that when clicking it one is about to delete something or close the tab one is currently at. That is what I thought the first time I used Vivaldi.
-
Hi, thanks for the snapshot.
I'm currently in a position where I can't file reports for these bugs, so maybe someone can report / let me know if they are already reported.
-
About 2 or 3 snapshots back I no longer can move bookmarked items by dragging them in vivaldi://bookmarks/. That is, move something up or down in the list.
-
This happened a long time ago but I never got around to reporting it, thinking more people would've noticed and reported it by now, but pinned tabs are now lost on closing the browser. Pinned tabs used to persist browser restarts, and only updates would cause them to be dropped, but now if I pin a tab and then close my browser, the tab is no longer pinned if I open my browser. I think this behavior is definitely bugged, that was almost the only reason I pinned anything, to make is persist across sessions.

Well it's actually a trashcan for the tabs, infact as the windows desktop trashcan you can drag a tab into it to close it, while clicking on the trashcan it opens to see which tabs has been closed and eventually reopen it.

@rseiler: Hi, yeah, this issue has been on our radar for some time, I'll try and push for it a bit more, doubt we can have it in the final, but hopefully we can have it in some snapshot after.

@derday: There is a Vivaldi update notifier that should be running in the background for you, check your task-manager, and you should see it there.
