Post marked as spam when including Wikipedia Link
-
I can't post (or edit a post) when this URL is included, forum says content was flagged as spam :
hxxps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains
(I renamed http to hxxp to be able to post the offending link)

Hmm, let me try: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains
Perhaps it has something to do with the number of your reputation points? I can't tell for sure...
-
Well at least it shows that it's not a global bug, but linked to my profile ?
I'll see if it happens again if/when my reputation gets higher. Thanks for trying anyway.
-
Here, take an upvote for science. Afaik 3 reputation is the magic number regarding posting limits, so let's see.

It works, seems you were correct about 3 being the limit. Thanks !

@IcePanther I've seen people complaining about this only recently, so I guess that it's just a security measure taken in response to all the SPAM comments and posts that we've been flooded by regularly for a while...
Now, it's a good thing to know what's the exact requirement for being able to post links, but I don't know if it's a good idea to leave that thread for the spammers to read...
-
@pafflick Just downvote spam posts whenever you see them, and flag them for moderation. Spammers are unlikely to get many upvotes, however many posts they make.
-
I think pafflick's point is that spammers could create dupes and upvote themselves prior to laying down a barrage of ad-spam. But that's probably overly complicated and not really in the interest of people who try to spam as many forum communities as they can.
-
@luetage Exactly, creating multiple accounts to upvote each other is a common practice among spammers. However - as you pointed out - it might be too "complicated" for them, by which I mean: not worth the trouble. We'll see how it goes!
-
@luetage Spammers cannot upvote until they get 3 reputation points themselves, which they won't get if other users are paying attention.
-
@Pesala I didn't know that. If that's the case, then we should be relatively safe with the current setup.
