Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9

@Pesala Yeah, I find it quite annoying that the toolbar pops up when pressing f3...
-
Add the possibility of arbitrarily set time, when tabs on background will be hibernated.
-
I did some searching and apparently the only way is to use an extension.
-
Precising the current checkbox for showing tabs as thumbnail in settings page with suboptions that suggest predefined value such as 2/3 or 3/4 or 1/1 in height visible. This'd to memorise the height of the thumbnail and also suggests you can use small thumbnails.

In address bar and Bookmarks manager search field, allow any-order keyword searching, instead of relying on exact substring matching to fetch bookmark and history entries for the dropdown.
Take for example, a page with the title "Old" Flexbox and "New" Flexbox | CSS-Tricks.
In Opera 12, if you visit that page or bookmark it, and type into Opera 12's address bar
old flex
, it brings up the page, but in Vivaldi only exact substrings match -- e.g. you must typeold" flex
, quotation mark included.Sometimes I find myself trying to remember an old, half-remembered bookmark and want to narrow the results by multiple keywords that I know appeared in the bookmark's title or description, but I don't always remember the full phrases, let alone punctuation. I'll sometimes deliberately add a list of keywords to a bookmark's description; back when I was using Opera 12 I could then call up the bookmark from the address bar by typing keywords in any order.
Note that the History manager search field in Vivaldi actually already does allow any-order keyword searching, although it currently requires you to hit a "Search history" button, rather than filtering as you type.
(Historical note: Opera 12 itself was a little inconsistent: The address bar and the history manager's search field were ok with words in any order, but the bookmark manager's search field did require an exact string match.)
As an update to this: With the new History manager introduced in snapshot 1.8.770.9, now even History does not allow any-order searching of words, and instead requires an exact phrase match. The new history manager is generally nice, but that's one aspect that's a step backward, IMO.

If extensions synchronization is a distant future, it would be good to at least have the feature of exporting the list of extension names into a text file. Or any other way to keep the names of all installed extensions in case computer crashes or you just reinstall the OS etc.
-
Export Bookmarks Filename to use Locale Date Format
- Default name is "bookmarks_3_7_17.html"
- Tomorrow it will be "bookmarks_3_8_17.html"
Not only does this not sort in the right order, it is not the date format we use in the UK. The date format should use the user's system date format, e.g. in my case:
- bookmarks_07_03_2017.html
- bookmarks_08_03_2017.html etc.,
-
Export Bookmarks Should Remember its Path
I would prefer to save always to my DropBox folder. Later, when/if we get an option to export all settings, that should do the same.
-
Include in-page actions in Quick Commands
It would be awesome to be able to launch links, click buttons or form controls, etc. from within the Quick Commands.

@Em-a-il @Guilimote
Sorry somehow I didn't saw your replies earlier.
"Ctrl+F11" is indeed not what I mean. Because I can't access the urlbar from this mode. To enter an url I have to use the quickcommand menu - which is fine so far but for me it is more like a workaround to enter urls (besides that it even behaves differently when you try to enter a valid url or try to trigger a search via searchengine shortcut in fullsscreen mode).With "F11" and "Ctrl+F11" you take away some parts of the gui --> "real fullscreen mode"
But when you only hide the controls outside the visible area an make them accessible via shortcut; mousegesture; hitting the upper border of your screen with the cursor to make them slide in they are still active. --> "Pseudo fullscreen mode"
- Pros: You can still access the sidepanel, urlbar, extensions and all shortcuts still work
- Cons: That all shortcuts still work might interfere with some videoplayers that use their own shortcuts
(workaround for such players could be to make a shortcuts to switch between real and pseudo fullscreen)

@Stardust I use and recommend autohotkey for this on Win10 - it works nicely! But to have it a browser integrated option would be even better!
autohotkey entry for every program that works with ctrl scroll to zoom:
;//// MOUSE ZOOMING ////// keep Mouse wheel pressed down (MButton) and scroll; for zooming
LButton & WheelUp::
Send ^{+} ;zoom one step in
returnLButton & WheelDown::
Send ^{-} ;zoom one step out
return ) -
Adding tab spaces and allowing cutting tab chain into parts on the fly with mouse
A example :
How the mouse could be used to suggest cutting ant repasting tab chains by bold lines :
- Natural, easy and quick basic order of tabs, specialy for thumbnailed tabs
- Complementary to stacked tabs
- Allow adding new tab after the chain that we want

Ah... that probably explains why I've been frustrated trying to search history recently!

An option to view the bookmarks as pictures only.
Multiple at once as an overview. (like Opera did it)
Usefull if you have plentyfull of random digit web-adresses in your Bookmarks-folder, wich give you no clue aboute the site. And selecting every single one after another, just to find one, is quite tidious. -
@Matt0027 Any bookmark folder can be used as a Speed Dial, which will give you thumbnails of the site.
-
Yes, I am using autohotkey too. And I am waiting for the integrated option. SumatraPDF has such a feature and also FastStone Image Viewer in "Compare mode".
-
Add the ability to copy the url/s of selected tabs or tab stacks to the clipboard through secondary clicking on them
so they could easily be mass pasted into something like an email, especially given there is no cross-platform syncing as of now -
@pacopata
For your number 2.)
This function is already there - although a shortcut is missing at the moment.To go from "site.com/store/folder" to "site.com/store/" just "Ctrl + LMB" on "store"
or you can go directly from "site.com/store/folder" to "site.com" by "Ctrl + LMB" by clicking anywhere on "site.com" -
Hello. I'm asking for it again, but I know this is a very good idea and I will spam this until you will add it to browser.
Can you make option to put opened tabs next to address bar like in IE11? I asked about it on twitter.
Thanks to that we will delete one bar and have more space for sites content.
So there will be only:
buttons (vivaldi/back/forward/refresh/main site), ADRESS BAR, OPENED TABS, min/max/close buttons
Favourite sites bar.You can ckeck my visualisation in attachment.
And I'm still waiting for e-mail client builded to this web browser! -
Make Vivaldi more compatible with touch-interfaces. I work on a school with 600 students, and we have bought 70 inch screens for our classrooms. Vivaldi would be perfect for our teachers, because they can customize it to their needs, height and more.
Please, make it happen.
