Please Fix the Video Flickering. Here is a small recording of it: http://tylorhost.me/ShareX/2017-01-24_17-20-05.mp4.
Unless it is my computer… Any advice to make the flickering stop. Only happens on Vivaldi.
-
I am experiencing this as well as other people who has commented with the same issue. It has been reported already or at least I have.
What I do to stop the flickering is to change the video quality from auto or from whatever setting it is to something else and then back again. That fixes it, but it is incredibly annoying to have to do that every time. It looks like the flickering is caused by the video changing qualities rapidly, from 480 to 720/1080 to 480 to 720/1080 again in seconds.
This started happening 2-3 snapshots ago.

It has been happening I believe since before December 25 AKA Christmas. I mostly stopped using Vivaldi while waiting for this to be fixed. I guess I should clarify my PC specs.
To temp fix it, download and install Magic Actions for YouTube extension, and force flash player, but it bugs out sometimes.
Windows 10 x64 w/ latest technical preview 15014 (happened on earlier versions too)

It's late here, and I'm celebrating something. That's probably why I read your question as 'Should I bile a fug report?'…
I can't answer your question though, even after rereading it. -
Hi. I have a follow-up to the "Broken Tab Stack after Move" bug…
Here's a slightly different setup to reproduce the problem:
(*) Launch Vivaldi (Vivaldi Window #1 opens with Start Page tab)
(*) Command-N (Window #2 opens with Start Page tab)
(*) Command-N (Window #3 opens with Start Page tab)
(*) Help / Community (creates new tab on Window #3 with Vivaldi Blog page)
(*) Help / Community (creates another new tab on Window #3 with Vivaldi Blog page)
(*) Help / Community (creates yet another new tab on Window #3 with Vivaldi Blog page)
(*) Select the three Vivaldi Blog tabs; right-click / “New Tab Stack with Selection (3 Tabs)”If I right-click on the tab stack and move it to ANY of the previous windows in the hierarchy (Window #1 or Window #2), it will result in a tab stack with (usually) 1 working and 2 blank/dead tabs.
With this snapshot, dragging and dropping a tab stack to a previous window also usually results in a tab stack with at least 1 blank/dead tab.
Also… moving a working tab stack from Window #3 to Window #4 (or a new window) works fine. Moving that tab stack to any previous window breaks the tab stack.
(OS X 10.11.6, TOTALLY clean out-of-the-box Vivaldi install with no customization)
-
And some more fun… Moving a tab stack with blank/dead tabs from Window #1 to Window #2 will often bring all the tabs back to life.
As I said before, trying to do something with a blank/dead tab (like Printing or Save Page as) will crash Vivaldi.

"Is there anything more annoying than a video or advert in a background tab causing unwanted noise?" –> YES!!! A new SS that breaks Notes! Sadly the x64 Linux Deb SS has zapped my Notes [thank Zarquon i have a backup]. My 9.4 MB Notes file gets replaced by an empty 172 B file. Closing V & overwriting the dud new file with my backup copy is useless; as soon as i relaunch V, it zaps the file again… ie, when i open the Notes Panel, all i see is... a barren empty wasteland, with tumbleweeds blowing, wolves howling, & creepy music playing [note: not all of those are necessarily true…]. Fix asap pls?

Ouch. There have been scattered reports of this or that User Data file being erased by a new install, but so far as I can tell, the developers have never been able to replicate this behavior - therefore, it doesn't seem they've been able to do anything about it. The updates are NOT supposed to tamper with the user profile file contents, and the re-started (after update) browser is only supposed to create files it finds MISSING. (which yours obviously is not. Don't know what to suggest, and I can't fire up my only copy of Ubuntu to test at the moment, as the power cords and monitor for that box are hooked up to the box I am currently outfitting to be a desktop at the new place while we are engaged in the move (which is pretty certain to take a very, very long time).
-
Yes ouch. It's been a long time since any SS hurt my Default directory's contents, but [you might recall from some now old chats we had in 2015], scarred by some of those early-V data losses i incurred, it has been my reflexive habit ever since, before every SS update, to close V, copy my Default to a backup directory, then allow my distro's Update Manager to proceed with the update. I can tell you this titbit; this morning's update [d/l & update included] completed in lightning time, maybe 30". It made me wonder if it was a delta update, but then later once i found the Notes fault, i wondered if the Deb might have been defective [although, so far, in all other respects V is going nicely]. I shall launch one or two of my VMs, play with some more V SS updates, & report back here if anything of note arises [geddit, geddit?].
-
ugh
-
Yep, i reconfirm this bad bug. Launched one of my VMs, did a clean install of V SS from an old 1.5.x Deb i had lying around, then forced the update to latest SS via Update Manager. Copied my "real" Default across to VM, launched V, saw that all my Notes had vaporised. Closed VM's V again, created a virgin Default, copied only my "real" Notes file [& this time also its .bak] into this virgin Default, relaunched, but Notes were again zapped. That's nasty – if i didn't keep backups, always, before updating, & really had lost all my notes, i'd have been rather displeased. Hope the Devs rush out a fix for this asap.

I was thinking that an option to make mute the default for tabs that has to be manually unmuted for each would be great. Perhaps with an override in Site settings.
-
Mute new tabs by default. I would like Vivaldi to automatically mute all new tabs by default. (Plus, a cite-by-cite preference would be nice.) Clicking on the "muted sound" icon would unmute each tab.
Scenario: I listen to music played at Google Play Music on a tab. I open a news site, which starts adds or video with sound, which is annoying.

Clear Private Data" doesn't remember settings (VB-24193)
Not fixed here.

Request:
The autocomplete in the address bar annoys me.
If I only visited, the page http://example.com/aaaa/bbbb/cccc/ on the domain example.com, when I ype "exam", the first autocomplete proposition is "http://example.com/aaaa/bbbb/cccc/".
If I want to visit the main page of the website, I have to type the full domain name or to remove the end of the autocomplete proposition.
Could you put just the domain name as first proposition? -
