Details matter. Vivaldi 1.6 is ready
-
2. was happening to me only on Chrome and got fixed in version 0.55 - how does it work for you now?
My Vivaldi startup is quite fast, but I honestly can't believe that Chrome is way faster now, it was the worse (about 10-15 seconds to start).
-
Super sad that Q4 is ending and still no mail feature.
Regardless, congrats for a great release and an amazing year overall.
-
Not sure what you meant exactly by "got fixed in version 0.55", but my Vivaldi is still up-to-date (stable branch), I even made a fresh user profile to determine how much the "Improved startup mecanism" would be efficient, it turns out to make a very low to no difference unfortunately
I don't really know about Chrome, but I know for sure that Chromium stable builds by Nik for Windows are very fast at startup compared to Vivaldi.
-
Install one of them standalone. Use the "advanced" button in the installer.
-
Mail/sync has been delayed since a while ago, so it's been known it won't come out this year. I'm hoping that Q1 of next year would be the release, but that's my guess.
-
There's at least one thread about this in the forums. That would be a better place to discuss the topic.
-
To be clear, nothing has been delayed. Work is ongoing on mail and sync and progress is being made. They are simply big jobs.
-
3 versions later, I'm still seeing the problem where links I open from Gmail result in blank pages. I first noticed it in the snapshot builds after the 1.3 release and it only happens on my laptop, so for now, I have to stick to Vivaldi 1.3 there. Wish I knew what was wrong and if there's a workaround though.
-
I meant 2014, of course.
-
I think I meant that it was expected around last year or very early 2016 that it was going to come in Q4 2016, but that there was a lot more work than expected.
How's sync/mail looking right now? What's your best guess as to the release in a snapshot?
-
I decline to guess, except that it's my impression we will probably see mail before sync.
-
Okay no I'm sure, definitely I don't recommend Vivaldi around me…
the stupid update block my ALL Vivaldi Browser...
It's a final update ! not Snapshot ! and If you post quickly the update WITHOUT test I'm sure is just horrible...
And I have proof, your DON'T test because If you try "vivaldi://mail"
You find a strange part of Mail program... thank you Vivaldi... thank you...
You create quickly RC update just for fun or what ?
Now I'm back to Opera 12.16... I quit Vivaldi until you are sure the browser is "entirely" functional... not before...
Good bye -
I'm looking more forward to sync than mail, but I'm guessing we'll see either one or both on 2.0.
-
Some support pre-exists at webmail.vivaldi.net however as of now I would REALLY love to see this built-in as a web panel…
-
I figured something out… If you move the cursor next the tiny crack in between the url and search. You can resize them giving you more room. This is a complete work around but it is what it is.
-
Startup times see somewhat on par with chrome… However I see what you mean if you have vivaldi not run during background it takes 30-40 seconds for me..
Ubuntu 16.04
Intel i5.If there is any difference on Windows I will update this post later. If I don't forget I will try later
-
Not as easy to implement as you might imagine. And with some rather large and much higher priority projects in front of them, since private window exists, private tabs are unlikely to be high priority soon.
-
We can't replicate this at the moment. What sort of system are you on? Where do you live? When this was happening all the time to certain users, especially on Mac, it was found to be geo-sensitive - particular to certain places in Europe and the version of Google that was being served there. It would be good to know more of your circumstances.
-
This is happening on a 13" Early-2011 MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 and I am in Delaware, USA.
-
I took a little time to look at Stable 1.6 settings etc. today.
Viv has so many features ( a lot I'll never use or didn't think I would ) like Scheduled Themes. But no… that feature is SO GREAT easier on eyes. I wish someone would make it cut blue out at night like program flux does for PC. Flux seems to be a flaky program now..maybe extension.Just thanks I think it is very stabe now and most problems I have can be attributed to a cloud backup program that crashed a long time ago.
