Snapshot 1.2.470.11 - Editable Gestures
-
FYI:
I have a suggestion it may help you hunt down the problem..go to Analog X and download a very small free program called ITR. Yes I know you can use traceroute but this has it organized better and it's THERE. It has Trace and Ping, server ratings for country. It will help you see what servers are hanging you up, how many hops etc.I have a VPN and I am in a rural area and actually the VPN is FASTER for me. I HAD overseas software VPN but now protected my whole system with a very small portable router with eithernet connections to travel with. That VPN router is a pre-configured one. Everything is VPNed BUT I don't have the choice of DNS servers as when I had a software VPN rather than hardware. Smaller than a pack of cigarettes, antenna, faster…that goes to my regular router so all my devices are running through it.
After several years of fooling with it I found out with a very good DNS check program that using the correct ones in right order made a LOT of difference.

New Tab gesture should have a option that don't open links in new tab, its anoying having to avoid links to open a new tab, if I gesture over a link by mistake it opens the link in another tab. User should have a option to just open a new tab, wherever the gesture is made.
-
As I said, I followed the steps. No issues here.
-
I assume you are meaning search not the find in page search.
Using DDG and no problems. I am using U Block Orgin, some websites have 100 or more requests or ads from 3rd. party ads etc and it has to fech them also, possibly that. -
Reported earlier in this thread. Submitted as part of VB17185.

Their promise was a configurable feature laden browser from the start. I felt the same as you on my old system until they actually got it to run for me and I could use it. After that I could configure the MANY ( I agree it takes awhile to learn ) features to what YOU want or don't.
Eventually when things settle down and it is stable, and mail also they will have time to improve the little things. But also I understand if your system won't let you use it until then ( as it did for me) it is frustrating.
-
Time will tell.
The more time goes by the more users feel comfortable with their current setup of email and the more wont dare to switch back to a new client.
So imho the longer it takes the lesser it makes sense to release it. -
The Chromium security mechanism uses a hash built upon the user-account name for the computer on which passwords originally were saved to encrypt the files. A different computer cannot present the same hash, so the data cannot be decrypted on it. This was intended to protect against either somebody with a different user account on the same system from accessing your password file data or protecting against somebody copying/accessing your password file and using some kind of utility tool to unlock it (and such tools are/were quite common - I've used them myself, but they're useless against Chromium's security unless you're attempting the crack from with the same user account of the original system).

Yes I do. It happens if you press it faster than usual. My guess is something relating to Vivaldi not rendering a tab there, thus closes. Of course, I remember this being the case in quite a few different builds, but not all of them. Not the last build. So to confirm, double-clicking the Middle mouse button on a single tab can close Vivaldi.

Thank you!
It seems like today my connection is OK.

Download speed is also normal. -
A lot of the time, opening new links opens them up at the end of the tab bar despite me having new tabs set to open next to current. Anyone else having this issue?
-
Yes, I have this issue too. One of the problems is that there is now in the past few snapshots is page hangs before loading fully. You can see it in the loading bar over the URL that it sticks there for a few seconds, and then loads the page. This didn't really happen before, but sometime after Stable 1.0 it started.

[Mac] Double clicking the tab field opens new tab and resizes window (VB-16033)
[Mac] Optional setting to not close the window when closing last tab (VB-11667)
Great!Happy to see upgrades.I think it will be better if you adds a feedback button, then we can feedback anytime we have problem : )
The Vivaldi is very beautiful and convenient!Thank you! -
Atta boy. Nice to know…doing things on all cloud scares me also just as you stated nice to know IMAP does that makes sense does it also delete on all devices also?
I was thinking of changing to that but mine works well and is backed up.It would be my guess backing up a large database at slow speed would be a nightmare. Not all of use have guaranteed 30 Gig IP's. -
That's how IMAP works - the folder states are synced across all devices. If it's deleted in one, it's deleted in all. You may recall some years back, Google had some servers go haywire, and lost the email for several hundred thousand accounts. http://money.cnn.com/2011/02/28/technology/gmail_outage/
They had backups, so as they got the backup copies on line, people gradually, over a couple of days to just over a week, got their email back. But in the meantime, if you logged on to GMail with your IMAP client, all of your downloaded copies of your email that you had on your computer, vanished. At the time, I was only using POP3 to access Gmail, so I lost nothing. But until the backups were on line, a LOT of people were freaking out. -
Same problem here. Can't get the logic by which Vivaldi decide where to place the new tab.
-
After enabling "Open Bookmarks in Panel with Single Mouse Click", there is a conflict with middle click -> try opening a bookmark with Single Click and while it's loading, Middle Click on another bookmark to open it in the background: both tabs load the same URL (the one from the second bookmark).

Please fix the aggressive caching. It makes the browser unsuable for me. I have pinned tabs for certain StackOverflow Tags/topics, but each time I start Vivaldi and the tab loads, it loads a very old cached version of the page.
This is completely unusable for me, as I need always the latest version without hitting F5 manually. Also Stackoverflow uses Websockets for notifications, these need to connect to and it only seems to happen once you hit F5. Opera behaves correctly in this case. Please fix it. I have to use Opera again until this is fixed. Gamebreaker

Please could we have two new commands accessible from keyboard and mouse gestures:
- go up a level (e.g. from www.thing.com/thing2 to www.thing.com/)
- go to top of page.
I'm sure I'll think of more!
-
VERY nice for a first implementation! Good work!
I've got some suggestions, of course. I very much miss the gesture + flip functionality from Opera 12 - I hope it is on your list.
The Quick Commands dialogue doesn't take bare words for search. I think it should use the default search engine if no keyword prefix is added. Now, if it doesn't find anything in the history, it shows nothing and Enter or Shift + Enter does nothing.
