Snapshot 1.0.380.2 - Bug fixes and new Settings
-
I just thought of another feature in Opera (12) I used on a daily basis: Follower tabs.
Links clicked in the main tab are all opened in the follower tab instead of opening in a new one.Vivaldi could even improve over this with the tiled tabs feature, something I'm not sure is/was possible in Opera.
(I'd request this as a feature, but not a clue where to find that page)

Hmm, it looks like something is wrong in the "Color Active Tab" function. Very often it will use the icon color from the page which was loaded before to color the current tab (but not always).
Examples here - tab color does not match any of the icon colors:

Normally you could disable the 'x'-button on tabs in the options (options -> Tabs -> Tab display (or similar) -> show close-button. Sadly this setting is ignored in the current snapshot…

Tabs
-Make an option for a second row of Tabs for easier management of multiple tabs;Please, oh, please!
(Nice work BTW)
-
BUG: In Netflix, with the new background colouring option enabled, the tab sound icon shows up in white, making it practically impossible to see.

Performance
-Vivaldi still uses a lot of CPU, sometimes even mundane tasks can use 100% from time to time;
-Before running Vivaldi, CPU usage is at 1%. After opening and closing Vivaldi (all Vivaldi processes terminated), CPU usage stays at 20% or more, no programs running - only happens with Vivaldi;
-Memory usage skyrockets upon start; Vivaldi still consumes most of the memory available, not allowing programs on the background to run, unless you are fine with a sluggish PC;
-UI still sluggish in some instances, taking too long to open new tabs or accept new commands;This is a BIG problem for me also… I've come to the conclusion I'll never be able to use Vivaldi, because it seems so embedded with the chrome engine. I can't even last long enough to test it without having to close many programs that I am working with. With FF I always have 2.5Gig left no matter how much I have going on....eventually with Vivaldi I go to 50 Meg with almost everything closed.
Seems to do somewhat well until a streaming Flash loads, Flash just gobbles everything up FAST.
I have trouble with it releasing all memory after closing also. It has been a HUGE problem that I and others have had for a LONG time, it is a LARGE issue that I am sure is very complicated but needs to be solved, it can't be done without feedback.

Win 7 64 Bit 8Gig Ram 32 Vivaldi
When I can switch over it would be nice to have sessions save.
Thanks

OSX: Using Shortcuts involving Ctrl does not has an effect. E.g. Ctrl+Shift+E should open the extension manager. But besides highlighting the menu item, nothing happens. Is this already known?
-
In settings and Downloads section, There should have a button to choose the download destination folder, not only the location (not to navigate in explorer and then to copy it)
-
For some reason, I think when using that for a tab in a tab stack, it tends to unstack that tab from the tab stack.
-
In the past the favicon was shown at the start of the address bar in some browsers (a.o. in Opera). This behavior was however removed because, as I understand, it poses a security risk.
Search google with "favicon in address bar security" for further information. -
@Musikarchitekt:
Btw, it would be awesome if you would not only have "use page theme color in user interface", but also "individual color scheme" and "native system color scheme".
Totally support the proposal - the more options, the better.
-
You can already do that: just activate the setting for not showing the address bar or showing it at the bottom of the page
-
I'm not sure if this was an intended feature or not but Vivaldi used to automatically load a page when I typed its bookmark nickname in the quick commands bar. Either way I found it to be a useful functionality. If it was a bug I suggest you restore it as an optional feature.

indeed.
W8.1 x64 with this x32 build(also if you close and then re-open a stacked tab it will not get back into the stack…)
-
I don't understand page theme…
- www.deviantart.com, mostly green but page theme is red.
- www.vorterix.com, mostly black but page theme is red.
I suppose this is because favicon has transparency (or white) color.

Not a complaint, but I'd really like to see more love being given to the email client in Vivaldi. The "New" Interface doesn't load up at all and I'd like to be able to manage my email client on my system again (without resorting to the now outdated Opera Mail program). Could you please address this in future snapshots please?
-
I second this

On a more positive note, I love the new shade behind active tabs. As a Star Wars fan it looks like a Lightsaber on the side of my tabs, located on the left of my screen ^^

-sigh-
Also, its 2016 and it baffles me utterly how APNG isn't natively supported.
