I have lost my sound on Vivaldi Snapshot 5.1 2519.3. Running Kubuntu with Plasma. Sound still works fine with other apps.

Apparently the "just closing" happens when you have both Normal AND Private window open at the same time!?
Affects both Stable and Snapshot versions.

I had the same problem with the download speed, it took about 2 minutes to download 1.5mb of a 137mb file. I paused the Vivaldi download and used Opera and downloaded the same file in about 20 / 30 seconds - I went back and used Vivaldi and still had the same speed issue. I resolved the problem after a few minutes by flushing the DNS (ipconfig /flushdns) and now it works everytime, same speed as what I was getting on the other browser.

I have default system vivaldi

Also snapshot vivaldi (installed as standalone), this one I selected to add handler so it can be used as a default browser if I wanted.

Now I started launching my main vivaldi with custom profile path, to ensure that any update only launches on a empty profile, and I notice now even if I set as default browser, it will launch a new instance using default profile.

So I followed the guides here, I checked both registry entries and only the snapshot version of vivaldi is in the registry at those locations, there isnt the default one to edit.

However the default one has a handler as I can select it in the windows UI (it shows both).

I am not bothered so much if vivaldi isnt running at all, but its weird when its already running, I click a link then it launches a new instance on empty profile.

You can, but it needs an obscure workaround:

Create a temporary folder Set this folder as bookmarks bar Delete the folder

I really wish they'd fix this, how hard can it be, just adding a root entry to the dropdown list... 🙄

Note that this is a regression that affects the Snapshot, not the latest stable build.

Thank you for identifying it as the TAB Bar. How it got there I have not idea. Went into settings; it has been set for the left side. Anyway I unchecked TAB Bar and that is it. Knowing what it is I can take it from there, on both laptops. Thanks very much.

I'm having the same issue. Right now with a .exe file on Windows, but I don't remember if it also happened to other files...

Edit: also having this issue with PDF's right now.

@ian-coog I think you can also get it if you try to run a .deb or a .dmg.

@vivaldi360 it's not immediately easy to use, but you can press F12 (developer tools) and find it in there.

This started happening when I updated to 5.0.2497.32 (32-Bit) on Windows 8.1. I use a regular window alongside a private window. When I switch focus from the private to normal window and click one of my bookmarks in my normal window, it frequently opens in the private window. This only seems to happen on the first click after switching windows. If I navigate within an open tab in the normal window before clicking the bookmark, it works OK.

how do you manage these click-shortcuts anyway?? i don't understand if they're embedded in every browser and stuck there or there is a way to manipulate these...
