Translating pages to English is no longer an option
-
@peterminin Check Settings → General → Language
Which is "User Interface Language"?
Which is "Accept Languages" and its order?
-
@DoctorG
Like I said:
"User Interface Language": English (US)
"Accept Languages": en-US, en, ru, huIt does offer to translate into Russian, but not into English.
-
@peterminin What is vivaldi://translate-internals in section: "Languages not translated"
For me it is only EN -
@DoctorG
"Languages not translated
en (English)
ru (Russian)"Not sure if this is relevant, because it does offer to translate from Hungarian to something else. Just not into English.

@peterminin
Hi, I don't read the complete thread but did you test this in a guest profile? -
@peterminin Had you ever tried to re-install Vivaldi 6.8?
In my case of such broken translate it helped to "Reset Translation Settings" , Restart, switch to an other UI language, Restart, set UI language to my desired,
check "Accept Language" if all needed are displayed and in correct order, changed order if needed, close Setting, restarted. -
@mib2berlin I just tried it: no, the Guest profile doesn't change this behavior, still reproduced. Same with the Private mode.
@DoctorG I haven't reinstalled the app. For now I won't try it: both because I have little hope after trying clean profiles, and because my case may be useful for debugging.

On my Vivaldi with German UI i can see loss of translate icon and pop-up when i used Translate Panel and switched the target language away from German. See video
May be that can explain why some users have trouble with Translate feature in address field and loss of target language .

Having the same problem. In the vivaldi://translate-internals, I have this list:
Supported languages Last updated: 2024-08-29 22:03:47 ar (Arabic) be (Belarusian) bg (Bulgarian) bs (Bosnian) cs (Czech) cy (Welsh) da (Danish) de (German) el (Greek) es (Spanish) et (Estonian) fa (Persian) fi (Finnish) fr (French) ha (Hausa) he (Hebrew) hi (Hindi) hmn (Hmong) hr (Croatian) hu (Hungarian) id (Indonesian) it (Italian) ja (Japanese) kn (Kannada) ko (Korean) lb (Luxembourgish) lt (Lithuanian) mg (Malagasy) ms (Malay) mt (Maltese) nl (Dutch) no (Norwegian) pl (Polish) pt (Portuguese) ro (Romanian) ru (Russian) sk (Slovak) sl (Slovenian) sv (Swedish) sw (Swahili) tg (Tajik) th (Thai) tr (Turkish) uk (Ukrainian) vi (Vietnamese) zh-Hans zh-Hant zu (Zulu)
As you can see, english doesn't show up in there.
Moreover, the problem to me shows up in the Translation panel. I don't think that panel should choose not to show english as target language just because the page I happen to be in is marked as english (and for that matter, that shouldn't happen in the website translation either). What happens if I receive an email in my mail provider which marks the page as english but the email is in, say, german, and I want to translate it? Or if the page language is misconfigured?

same issue. English just disappeared from translation options
-
I have it, too. I started noticing it a couple of weeks ago.
Accept Languages == en-US and en
Note that if I fool around with the up-down buttons it keeps wanting to add back und and pt but both disappear if I "Reset Defaults"
Note also that und and pt come back if I close and reopen my settings.

Was told this is a known Vivaldi bug.
